Making a good title screen
|
You need to make a good title screen for your games, or else some people might think your game is crap. I know i would. Why? The title screen is the first part of a game someone sees. A bad title screen will have people start it with lower expectations. So unless you want your title screen riduculed, listen. The title screen is a #1 concern.
The main thing in your title screen you want is a good appearence. It shouldn't be a black screen saying the title. Make it nice put music in, graphics, and what ever else you want to put in. Stick in a lot of animation too. However, try not to overly decorate it.
Your second concern should be the screen's functionality. Try to have all of the buttons in a row. Even better, make a title screen where you use the arrow keys to switch between options--it'll get rid of most of the disorginization. Make sure that the options stick out.
Although this isn't nessecary, it is a nice touch: interactivity. If you want people to feel like you put a lot of work in, stick in some little interactive touches-- the sun grows brighter if your cursor is near it, the grass waves as your mouse touches it--these little details show that you put time and dedication into your game.
Well, there are some tips to making a good title screen. Use them wisely.
