Recently on the forum a message was posted, entitled “Reliable Web host?” Well, in my opinion, there aren’t that many reliable web hosts. There are so many out there, but its really hard to find one that allows direct linking. Hopefully, I can help. I will review 8 web hosts.
NOTE: THESE ARE JUST HOSTS I’VE USED. I WILL ALSO METION GOOD SITES THAT I WILL BE USING, AND SOME THAT I’VE HEARD ARE REALLY GOOD.
GEOCITIES (www.geocities.com)
The single most web host, in many people’s opinion, would be Geocities. In fact, it has been dubbed “Geoshitties! ”
Bad points: 1.It not let you direct link with screen shots, downloads, exc.
2. It has very limited space, (unless you want to pay them).
3. Bad Forum.
4. Its just plain not nice.
Good points: 1. Uploading files doesn’t take that long, (obviously depending on the file’s size)
2. Easy site builder.
3. Pretty good HTML editor.
Overview: I would never suggest going to Geocities for web hosting, unless you want to pay for it. Its direct linking policy stinks, and I just plain don’t like it. At the moment, I’m using Geocites , but I’ll soon be moving to!

NOTES: *The administrators can make screen shots viewable.
*Many respected Clickers do use Geocities, (like spiderhead, Andyuk)

DOWNLOADZ (www.downloadz.us)
Downloadz is a bit better then Geocities. There’s more room in the file manager, but you can’t upload a file that’s more then 1 MB, so that really sucks.
Bad points: 1. You can’t upload a game/application/picture that’s over 1MB.
2. It allows you to post pictures on DC for about a few days, and then it cuts them all off, replacing them with a sign that asks you to upgrade.
3. The only way to view your guest book is too sign it.

Good Points: 1. Fast Upload
2. Easy to Use site builder.
3. Fairly fast operating system.
4. Good selection of pre-made templates.
5. Great Guest Book option.
ALL IN ALL: OKAY HOST: 5 to 3
*NOTES: If you go to www.50megs.com, it offers the EXACT SAME FEATURES and looks almost EXACTLY the same. But it does have direct links! 50megs came first, by the way…

Its now something related to sex. If you go, most of you will be terrified.

CJB.NET (www.cjb.net)
This is a great site, but only if you know a bit of html.
BAD FEATURES: 1. You need to know HTML (only bad for some)
2. Anyone can post ANYTHING on your forum. (Some fool posted a message reading “CRAP: THIS PLACE BLOWS” on my forum.
GOOD FEATURES: 1. Subdomain Address
2. URL cloaking
3. Webmail
4. Dynamic DNS
5. Path Fowarding/ Mail Fowarding/ Web Mail
6. Pop3 Account
7. Forum

But if you don’t pay, you DON’T get…

Support.
All in all: A so/so host

Great site! It offers….
1.30 MB disk space
2. FTP Access Account
3.Unlimited Bandwidth
4.No Set Up Charges!
5.Standard ASP Scripts
6. No Monthly Fees
7.Free ODBC System DSN Setup

ALL in All: Great!
