I've noticed that almost all of the few Example games submited here look really bad. Sure, the ideas behind them are good and sometimes worthy of a better audience, but the front-end looks like c**p.
Once the coding is sorted, I suggest the creators of Examples take a minute or two sorting out a few nice pictures for the front (but keep it in context) to make it obvious that the example has a real use, and is not just a bit of showing off.
Also, examples should show how the code can be used in a variety of situations, such as a gravity object working with a miniture solar-system and with a toy magnet, or a fire-jet for a weapon, and as a steam-jet in a factory, just to show how useful it can be.
In short, examples should be clever, but also look good, and not like something thrown together because you haven't contributed to the DC recently (like this article).
