Sam, the lone survivor of a village in the Red Lands has been knocked out for some time, as he awakes he realises things aren't honky dory at all...

Yup I finally finished it. 2 months late but meh.

Have fun and that.

Description? It's a platform game. You kill enemies. You get to the exit. You can use weapons and stuff if you want, they make it easier but they're hard to find, and keep. Theres a multiplayer co-op that gets unlocked after the island level. I'd do a feature bullet point list but I wont.

oh go on then...

-127 levels, 10 worlds, 14 bosses, few mini levels here and there
-3 difficulty modes that unlock different things when completed
-my first big monkey soundtrack
-3 weapons, 2 vehicles, 3 powers (mix them up for bigger attacks)
-Lots of other stuff that involve numbers too

Update time Sam 3.0 is out now!
http://satansam.co.uk/games/samupdate.zip

-A final world. It’s not available from the start of the game but it’s linked to the Red Lands.

-No known bugs. I’ve found the cause of the crashes and fixed them altogether. There will be some small bugs but no more crashes. At least not on my end!

-Joystick support. A few people have requested this so here you go! CTRL+Y will let you configure controllers.

-Easier first world and more secret areas.

-Launcher application included in Version 3. Along with a save file corruption fix. You don't want to get corrupted now! Fixed all known problems and followed some suggestions through.

Been waiting for this - downloading.

screenshots look excellent, downloading now

Posted by Ski 18th February, 2006

wOooOOoooo! Excellent music and intro! nice character movement too!

Posted by Dr. James MD 18th February, 2006

cheers all

the intro was actually inspired by Dogtanian. only in the way that he fights his dad... if you've seen Dogtanian...

Posted by steve 18th February, 2006

yes, I remember Dogtanian

As for the game itself; I havent played it enough yet (and died quite early on) but from what I have seen so far, this seems like quite a masterpiece.
Great Work jimmi.

Posted by Imadjinn 18th February, 2006

Excellently made but far too difficult for this poor soul.

Reached first boss and the kickback from the jumping laser dropped me in the pit...

Posted by Willy C 18th February, 2006

The game is very good. Too hard for me. Whats with the 'no continues after game over' part? I always think its quite harsh to make a game without unlimited retries. Thumb up, though!

Posted by Aile the Alien 18th February, 2006

Awesome game so far.
My favourite weapon is the sword, just because you can get it to glow yellow!

Is there a way to drop the rocket launcher without getting hit and/or dying?
[down + shoot] doesn't work, like the other weapons/powers.

Posted by Dr. James MD 18th February, 2006

You hold down and shoot again but it takes a little longer.
Tried charging up the rocket launcher with the big beam yet? Or try smacking the rocket launcher with Ki Powers?

Posted by en kerro 18th February, 2006

Game is hard to control, and If Sam dies in first level, you must watch opening scenes... and they can't be skipped... otherwise, very good game.

Posted by Aile the Alien 18th February, 2006

I'll try those things in a second.

I'm completely lost with how to beat the bionic train mission.
I've killed all the pink cone-head chicken things, the green floating guy, and the three pink ball things in the air.
The only thing left that I can see is the invincible moving landmine thing, but I can _hear_ more of those chicken things.
I've been trying to shoot, slice and otherwise get into the train cars, but all I can do is die. :/

Posted by Keatontech! 18th February, 2006

I've been waiting for this, downloading...

Posted by Flava 18th February, 2006

Well the engine itself is excelent.
But the levels IMO are too difficult even on easy mode - i've had to watch the opening scene 4 times now and I still haven't got through to a save point or anything.

So yeh good engine - but I can't tell you my opinion on the rest of the game because im sick of watching the opening scene

Posted by The Chris Street 18th February, 2006

He's not joking

I'm up to Level 32... its rock hard but great fun

Posted by Dr. James MD 18th February, 2006

Alrighty some tips... Forget the beam and all that, just use the spin/jump attack. Very damaging and wide attack.
for every 10 bad guys you kill you get an extra life.
if you hold jump+down and hold shoot until you do a beam, then hold down beam again you'll gain height (which is good for keeping out of the pits).
Keep the sword for as long as possible. the Golden Sword is one of the most powerful weapons in the game if you keep it charged up.
My favourite attack for the early levels is to approach an enemy, jump and fire a down blast. The little beams will damage it and the spin will finish the job. The radius for the spin blast is very generous.

hope that helps.

oh and on level 5, just watch where the particles land

Posted by Flava 18th February, 2006

Is it possible to skip the opening scene?

Posted by 18th February, 2006

ooOoOohh..Crap..Not this again! >_< Well..I guess ill try this out!

Posted by DistantJ [FZ Games] 18th February, 2006

Omg this is brilliant! I love this. Great movement and great ideas and great fun! Wish it'd let me use my gamepad though.

Posted by Aile the Alien 18th February, 2006

I wish I could rate more than a thumbs up, like 10 thumbs up!
This game is awesome!

I just wish there had been some visual indicator that there was more bio-train that I needed to jump too...

That was really good! The engine, graphics, and music were all great, and the gameplay was very addictive. Not to mention that the little screen effects were also very nice.

Posted by Noyb 19th February, 2006

Fun game once you learn how to control it. I agree with Willy, though. Instead of kicking you back to the main menu, why not kick you back to the overworld with a certain number of lives or even just automatically reload the savegame when you lose all of your lives?

Posted by Reno 19th February, 2006

I can't get past the bloody "continue/new game" and "slot" part. Too confusing

Posted by AndyUK 19th February, 2006

i died pretty quickly too.
but i can't really pass judgement so early.

although i can't ever hope to actually finish it. You know, given that there are over 120 levels...

Posted by Airflow 19th February, 2006

You just game me a reason to download this!

Posted by 19th February, 2006

Wow! Awsome game!!!! I love the story and the Graphics!! Nice WORK!

Posted by Noyb 19th February, 2006

I was on a level in the last area of the second world, when Sam disappeared. I was on a platform near the top of the screen, firing the rocket launcher, possibly the charged attack. The camera could move back and forth with the arrow keys, and I think I could hear sounds when I fired, but nothing else was under my control.

Posted by Peblo 19th February, 2006

Er, I didn't care much for the story, and the movement took a while to get used to, but the graphics and music are great!

I did find a bug of sorts: At the beginning, when talking to your mom, I was pressing a lot of buttons at once, and when I met that father, I was already laying on the ground. I jumped, and it went to the next frame.

Posted by Teapot 19th February, 2006

Big glitch: In the fight with dad, you don't have to kill him. You can justr run off the right side of the screen and then try to dodge the meteors. This means you have limited control of Sam (jumping)after you've been hit.

I reckon it should kick you back to the map as well.

Posted by Willy C 19th February, 2006

yeah, and after just running away from your father you keep the sword at the next level. This made me able to finish of the first few levels and save! From here things are a little easier.

Posted by columbo borgi :C 19th February, 2006

omg asdasd :$

Posted by Robbert 19th February, 2006

Is there a way to change the screen size? It starts full screen but half of the screen of your game (the lower half) is totally black

Posted by Klikmaster 19th February, 2006

Yeh, I got the thing where I appeared at my dad dead. And I started the game with the sword after getting it the first time.

awesome game!
When ever I got to the dad bit I fell over then the scene ended.

Posted by Dogzer 19th February, 2006

wtf, you freak! why did you make so many levels?

Posted by Dr. James MD 19th February, 2006

If you've already downloaded the game you can grab Version 1.2 here http://satansam.co.uk/games/samupdate.zip

Why so many levels?! Why not They're all quite small barring some of the later levels.

Posted by hishnak 19th February, 2006

Ha, in the opening scene I floated in dead and the it skipped most of the scene with sams dad...Anyway, nice game!

Posted by Hempuli 19th February, 2006

YAY ITS HERE!!!!!

Posted by Klikmaster 19th February, 2006

Thanks for the update Jimmi, restarting the whole game when you died was very annoying.

Posted by Jimbob 19th February, 2006

Not too shabby...on the third world so far. It seems very easy to fall off. I dunno what it is, but the first two bosses seemed a bit easy? Maybe it's because I had the rocket launcher, but I dunno. Each level seems to have had a 'thing' to its design so that's good. I found out about the charged rocket launcher by accident which was cool.

To whoever was stuck on the train level, you need to do a really big double jump + charge jump to get to the next carriage.

Good going anyway Jay so far...well done.

Posted by Dr. James MD 19th February, 2006

Brilliant. Theres a crash linked to the Alpha Channel Object that only appears in the compiled .exe. Expect version 1.3 anytime soon this time with no Alpha Channel Object stuff to just put a big stop to any other crash that might appear.

Posted by stevenb 19th February, 2006

i dont know what version i have, and your bug report post didnt mention what any of the bugs were so i dont know what might be the problem, the game doesnt progress past the "new satan sam" screen

and i wouldnt bother saying this if your new downloads actually worked

Posted by Dr. James MD 20th February, 2006

That's fixed in 1.3

My bug report is on my devblog in the main description ^. the readme text has a quick overview of the updates.

Posted by 20th February, 2006

Still has lots of bugs. I well over look them.

Posted by Noyb 20th February, 2006

It crashed for me too upon beating that level in the caves with the rising lava.

in the train level is meant to be almost impossible to run right once you've pressed left?

Posted by pulsecode. 20th February, 2006

Well pfft, i can't even start the game!

It simply loops back to the new slot screen again, so i press shift, it goes to the logo fade in screen, then the title screen and once again, loops back to the new slot screen and so on...forevARR!

Posted by DistantJ [FZ Games] 20th February, 2006

You need to press CTRL. Shift is used as 'cancel' in the menus, like the 'B' button on a console.

Shame this game doesn't support gamepads.

Posted by pulsecode. 20th February, 2006

Haha! GotCHA.
Hm, i guess i just didn't think there would be something as pointless as a cancel on the title screen. An option to return to the saves screen or whatever, sure..
Ah anyway, it works, YAY etc...

Posted by Del Duio 20th February, 2006

This looks awesome! With my dial-up it'll probably take me until tommorrow to download though. Has anyone (even you Jimmi) beaten this all the way through the 127 levels yet? If there are no continues, that'd be a pretty tall task for anyone.

Posted by Dr. James MD 20th February, 2006

I've played through 3 times with the compiled .exe on blank saves on each difficulty, takes about 5 hours from start to finish. will probably take a lot longer on the first run through.

There are continues originally when you died you went back to the games title menu, but now you go back to the map. that only affects you if you die before a save point and makes getting back to the game a little faster.

Posted by ZodiakLucien 20th February, 2006

Im getting a constant error after the first buttermouth cave level. The patch still hasnt fixed it. I always get the "MultiMedia Fusion has encountered a error and needs to close".

Posted by ZodiakLucien 20th February, 2006

I have also noticed since the patch theres a lot more little bugs. For instance. After doing the beam attack for awhile a explosion will just stay there and wont go away. I also randomly got a white circle on my screen on the buttermouth cave level. It would not go away

Posted by Dr. James MD 20th February, 2006

Are you on version 1.3? I'm getting sick of this... first its crashing because of the alpha channel objects and now its something else.

I don't understand though. I've played through today on 1.3 and got past Buttermouse with no crashes.

Suppose the next step is to just remove the level altogether. 126 levels.

Posted by stevenb 20th February, 2006

well,i played it
a reasonable engine, fun attacks etc,but the graphics...there is no consistency, example, what the hell is that thing in screenshot 5,some of the pixil art borders are great, which i guess you brought over from the last sam demo you released, the hand drawn backgrounds although sometimes too messy are pretty good, but all the tiles looks slapped down with no alignment or regard for whats next to it

anyway, its decent, better than most other stuff on here, and congrats on making so many levels

Posted by bakaotaku85 21st February, 2006

Well made, but realy, realy hard. I thought the particle engine puzzle on level 5 was very clever. Graphics alone make this one of my favorite platformers I have seen in a while, and hte gameplay is solid, if overly difficult.

Posted by Airflow 21st February, 2006

You say the 1.3 is the new download. Does that mean you took the whole game from 30 to 14mb?

Posted by Willy C 21st February, 2006

the exe file is 14mb, just replace the exe file. There is still 15 mb of music files.

Posted by Dr. James MD 21st February, 2006

I've spotted a minor graphical bug on one of the bosses, only I don't want to do an update just for that. So I be wondering... for the final update and all have you guys noticed any strange going ons? or anything that you'd like to see?

Posted by Liquixcat 21st February, 2006

This is a great game.
"for the final update and all have you guys noticed any strange going ons? or anything that you'd like to see?"

Maybe a health cheat or a super satan sam cheat, lol.

Posted by Dim 21st February, 2006

Excellent game!

But how can I take multiple weapons into the next level, e.g. the hamsterball AND the sword???

Posted by Dr. James MD 21st February, 2006

You can only take 1 weapon with you, strategy and that. There are some mini puzzles that use that. the most obvious one is in Greenacres, one level you get Ki Powers, next level you carry the ball to the exit, go back and kill the enemies then jump into the ball to take it to the next level, where you roll down hills joyfully and that.

Now at 1.4. annoying thing is I added some final lines of code which I thought were totally harmless just before the original version 1.0 was out. Anyways, I've fixed all the problems they've caused now. not before time too. Just got word my first magazine offer, just a few days after the games launch. first for me.

Posted by Noyb 21st February, 2006

I downloaded 1.4 on a different computer with a fresh install, fresh save, everything. It still crashed for me upon beating one of the levels in the first Buttermouth cave area (where you drop down a shaft and there are lots of enemies on two different floor levels.) Is there anything with the extension you use for the level transition animation that could be causing this crash? Maybe it crashes if it has to convert too large active objects? If it helps debug this, some of the stalactites don't get monochromized in the level transition in earlier Buttermouth levels. I really want to get to play later levels.

Posted by Dr. James MD 21st February, 2006

I cant even replicate that! I just tried 1.4 on that level but it works fine, this morning I got up to the next world without a crash. I'm just guessing here but I've stripped the level of most enemies and the taken out the special scrolling stuff. Early on in production I found that the scrolling caused random crashes when mixed with the alpha channel object. So I've just removed all causes so it should be fine.

I wonder why some machines have these problems? What could possibly be causing a conflict?

Curse you Joshtek I was just uploading 1.5
This fixes the crash in the cave, or tries too. I just can't trigger it! I've just made a fail safe so it should work

Thinking about releasing version 2 in a bit. Just some extra levels and that. a bonus pack of sorts. which will be exempt from GOTW I reckon.

Posted by Noyb 22nd February, 2006

Arg! I downloaded version 1.5 on my original computer, and it still crashes after the rising lava level (caves 2-2). It fades to monochrome then black, and even seems to save the screen alright in that temp.bmp file, but crashes immediately afterward. It did this consistently three times in a row.

Questions to consider: What is supposed to happen at the end of that level? Are any files accessed? Is any music played/stopped? I had a problem with one of my games crashing after the first level was completed on some computers, and oddly enough disabling the sound was a "fix" around it. Are any extensions used? Is there anything inherently different about ending that level than any others?

I don't think it would be a DLL problem, though, as you have the versions you used in the directory itself.

Posted by Dr. James MD 22nd February, 2006

Just to be totally sure I've copied over the events and objects from an earlier Buttermouse level. It only seems to be on those 2 levels, and only for a few people. What weapons are you using? If I can somehow get these crashes myself I'd be able to fix them better

oooh. it's snowing outside.

Posted by Liquixcat 22nd February, 2006

I haven't had any crashes and I'm still using 1.3.

Posted by 22nd February, 2006

this rocks really good
A little to hard thou

Posted by Noyb 22nd February, 2006

In 1.5, I have gone into the lava level with both the machine gun and weaponless and it still crashes. The "an error has occured" dialog appears (in the fullscreen game's resolution), but the music keeps playing, oddly enough.

Computer info:
Dell Dimension 8100
Windows XP Home SP2
Pentium 4 - 1.3GHz
512 MB RAM

Posted by Dr. James MD 23rd February, 2006

Has anyone else got past that level without a crash?
Noyb, 1.5? 1.6 is the latest. 1.7 won't have that bloody level if 1.6 doesn't work. your system is similar to my desktop which works (just it a 2ghz P4).

in 1.6 theres water instead of lava, I've had to change the level somewhat.

Posted by Noyb 23rd February, 2006

It works! I'm up to the island levels now.

Posted by Noyb 23rd February, 2006

I managed to find that uber-powerful gerbil ride, but I, erm, found some serious bugs with it. Sam's head can go partially through platforms, and there are serious bugs with dying. If you die with the ride, sometimes Sam spawns at the beginning of the level, then the camera zooms to where you would normally respawn, and Sam is already on his ride. Even worse, when the ride is somehow destroyed when you die, Sam respawns invisible, and you can only see his motion blur trail and particle attacks. Dying again seems to restore his visibility. Regardless, it gives you the gerbil back the next level. How would you actually get rid of it? Also, it seems to affect the transport tube puzzle in the second ocean area. Presssing up opens both doors, makes Sam briefly flicker on the other end, but then quickly return to his mount.

Posted by Willy C 23rd February, 2006

"Edited By Jimmi on 19/02/2006" according to the date, you havn't updated the download to 1.7, I agree with Phizzy on this one. Change the info to 1.7 so that I'm sure that its the latest version.

Posted by Dr. James MD 23rd February, 2006

Yea the co-op thing is a bit annoying. Ideally it's meant to be played in co-op, riding it was just a quick extra. I always just get rid of the bugger by letting him fall off the level. He doesn't respawn then.

Good idea Willy. I'll update the description.

Posted by ben mercer 23rd February, 2006

An idea for your next update: when you complete a world you get bonus lives- its really annoying because when i complete a world and have 1 life left, there is no way in hell i'm going to complete the next world with one life.

It turns out i don't like it so much as i thought i would. Where you have a whole horde of enemies that you can't possibly jump into, you spend ages dropping those puny little bombs on them. My advice would be to make less enemies to a single platform cause its those overcrowded ones which are letting the game down.

The graphics are awesome, so is the music and the gameplay is pointing that general direction too. Some of this game is really cleverly done (such as the slope reaction on the hamsterball).

The first boss is nothing special though. Bosses shouldn't just have a whole load of health to make them difficult, they should have complex attack routines that the player has to respond to in the right way in order to defeat the boss.

Posted by Matt Kap 23rd February, 2006

Anyone know how to kill the green rocket-blocker in the 2nd area of the great bridge? He's behind a wall that blocks energy attacks, and blocks rockets...

Posted by Dr. James MD 23rd February, 2006

Good news! I found out what was causing the crash in the cave level! Lava behaves just like water in this game. They're both in the same qualifier (though you can't swim in lava/acid... go figure?). turns out the crash is triggered when there is a red water object that is not static. Why the hell that happens is a totally bloody mystery.

Anywho. Should have version 2 out by either tonight or tomorrow sometime. It addresses every known problem and adds an extra final world, and joystick support too. Just a big tidy and fix up before I call it a day.

IVSMatt; run+jump (in other words, spin jump!) into it a few times. Congrats on getting up to the Great Bridge though! at least I know its crash free up to there on other machines!

Ben; The first boss is a total tribute to the boss in the first Satan Sam. sort of a 'well the old game ended here, and heres where we're going with the new one'.
Version 2 has less enemies and pits at the start of the game. the working title for the Red Land's song was training.mp3... far from training though aye? sorta throws you straight into it!

Posted by Matt Kap 23rd February, 2006

Jimmi, there is a wall preventing me from spin jumping into him! He is totally surrounded by walls, and I can't figure out a way to kill him .

ooo
oDoo )
ooo

where "o" is a block of wall, "D" is the enemy, and ")" is his rocket shield when I try to shoot him from the right.

Awesome game though, I havent been this addicted to a Klik game in a LONG time! Great job with everything . The way the levels are set up is great, the 5 levels in one circle on the world map. *thumbs up*

Posted by Dr. James MD 24th February, 2006

Version 2 is out now. Read the description for all the jazz.

Posted by Aile the Alien 24th February, 2006

I just upgraded to 2.0, and now the game crashes after the red-dot-invisible-platform area in Buttermouse Cave.
Is the main download 2.0?

Posted by Matt Kap 24th February, 2006

Mine doesn't crash at the red dot area... although, I'm stuck again at Ravenstones 2-4. The door doesn't turn white... am I missing something? It is the stage that pauses at first and you have to fight a few rounds of enemies. Also, I can't see what the watch tower people are saying.

Thanks for taking out the wall from earlier Jimmi! Rockin' game!

Posted by Willy C 24th February, 2006

Sorry Jay, but I just crashed. Its the level you replced that lava rising level with. (The one that is now using particles to show the hidden platforms)

I don't think the problem is in that level, it has to be what comes after it, because it crashes while leaving the level. Take a look on what comes after that level.

And I can't make my gamepad to work (its a 'Joytec' Playstation adapter)

Posted by Willy C 24th February, 2006

I just got past, by dropping my bazooka gun before that particle level it somehow didn't crash.

Posted by Dr. James MD 24th February, 2006

I'll have another look see what I can sort out.

Does the controller work with other click games? I'm just using MMF's built in controller support thing. I couldn't add in an extension for better support. thats 170 frames that'd need it! Are you activating the controller in the options menu?

In that Ravenstones level try looking around a little more. Bats can escape to that big entrance area. just turn on those fire powers and go hunting.

I'll sort out that crash then. So it's being (or was) caused by large red transparent moving objects and now rocket launchers on the same level. I'll have to look into the next levels events after all.

IVSMatt; looks like somebodies going to the secret world in a bit

Posted by Dr. James MD 24th February, 2006

We're at 2.1 now. I've tried to work around the crash by removing the rocket launcher from those levels. if you already have it then try losing it on a easier level. I hope MMF2 stops these silly crashes

also, CTRL+Y brings up the controller config too. Though this is reset on boot up.

Also fixes the Ravenstones problem

A mate of mine has just finished this so I know the rest works on other machines

Posted by Matt Kap 24th February, 2006

Thanks again Jimmi ! Now to get back to playing...

Posted by Dr. James MD 24th February, 2006

Version 2.2 corrects a big text bug thats been around for a bit. It just tidies up the game somewhat. It's not exactly needed but does make things a little better. Especially if you want to talk to those Sky people

Posted by Matt Kap 24th February, 2006

Awesome! I talked to them, they're very nice. Hahaha! I also beat the game on Easy mode! How do I access the unlockables? I went to "New Game" in my checkmarked save file, but it still tells me "You need to complete the game to unlock this". Do I need to finish the secret world before the extras are unlocked?

Also, I really appreciate the fact that you update the game so frequently. Really cool of you. A lot of people would rush it, get it done, and forget about it leaving it somewhat unplayable . Thanks dude.

Also, can I get a hint as to what to do in the secret area 1-1 ?

Posted by Dr. James MD 24th February, 2006

Thats a strange 'un! A mate of mine (who you meet after you beat Echo World) got those extra modes working after he beat it.
Echo World doesn't require much firepower. In the first level you have to clear the giant gap avoiding the spike balls. The rest are fairly straight forward... should have put up one of those big arrow graphics! meh

If I knew people would have finished it this quickly I would have added more levels or made those later levels harder

cool, downloading...

I gotta say though, even though i dont like this SO much, it is one of the best things come out on DC in a long while.

Bugs:
1. In tutorial level, all text boxes are behind trees or ground. Use bring to front event to all text boxes! (that bug wasn't in the new satan sam 1.0)

2. In first red lands level sam has 7 lives. But if game over comes, sam has only ONE life. And if he loses that only life, game over won't come. That's weird...

The huge fatal jumps have lost my patience with this game. The timing needs to be perfect, and if it isnt you die! Please make these jumps so that if you fall you can just climb back up to the place you started, at least on easy mode.

I think in a game with a kitty there was a bit where if you fell down you just had to start the jump sequence again, and didnt lose a life... or maybe it was eternal daughter?

Actually I think both the reviews are total crap. At least make the bloody effort to write something decent.

Version 3 is out now. Read my site http://satansam.co.uk or the above description for info.

In first ravenstones level, the game crashes is the end of one area...

I duno what updates you have made since 2.2, but I have noticed some early hickies that might have been overlooked due to your fast computers.

It's impossible for me to beat BionicTrain because the wind is timer-based. I tried crawling, shooting beams-everything. The first gap between the trains is too wide for me to cross. Also, there is this starnge glitchin level 1 where after getting down to one life(in some scenario, i duno-it just happened) where you get infinite lives. Until the level set is complete, you can fall, bet burned or impaled as many times as you like as long as you don't get one of those yellow hearts.

I hope you've already fixed this stuff up in version 3.0, I'd test it, but by the time I download it i'll be off here.

Complaints aside-I love it!

Just to let you know - I thing graphics in your game are AMAZING. You seem to be a very good pixel-artist. I have no time to play the game itself - sadly - but I'm looking forward to that!

Up to version 3.1, fixes a problem with save file corruption and some minor bits n bobs.

Some bugs I found (3.0 not 3.1):

1.
In the first ocean area, in the level where there's a chain of bombs, and a sword on the ground, the graphics can get wrecked. Sam sprites tiled across the bottom and top, and then all the fish are either invisible, or flashing a sword sprite.

2.
This one happens in the second ocean area, in the level where there's a single water jet going up and some rows of bombs you have to destroy. When you go into or out of the second row (it has a coral reef right beside it) the game slows down to a crawl for about 30 seconds, or two widths of Sam (not sure if it's timing or position).

P.S.
Can I have a hint as to how to get into that secret level in the red lands?
The only secret I've found so far that was of significance was where that guy talks about the Bloodhound Gang.

Beat the game

as for the graphics bug; i've no idea what causes this. It's hardly through too many objects on screen. Theres a level to come where set off a chain reaction with some mines. massive slowdown= no problem.
I'd love to know why MMF does this.

I really want to like this game, but I can't. It is an achivement to be sure; but it feels like the game is taking most of the control out of my hands. Example: That jumping energy shot attack REALLY irritates me, I think I should be allowed to choose when I shoot it, instead of having it automatically go off while jumping. But that's just me.

I finished the game in HARD mode.
Bad guys counter at 8569 and Lifes at 64(Gotta love the 10point combos for lifes).
The most challenging and fun level was the bonus one.
Rewards for hard mode are a bit dissapointing but anyway.

After you get the special power up that makes Satan Sam eyes red and whenever he jumps he does in a fireball, the game is becoming easy mode.
I found the last stages were much more easier than the first ones.

Overall great game, just needs some fixing with the collisions, the crashes and the level design.
In some areas is impossible to pass through without losing lifes.
I also found the sword, mind control and bazooka weren't that useful and for some reason I could never drop the bazooka.Had to waste a life to drop it.

Here is a tip to the other players:
When you manage to finish Green Acres Lakes and you are low on lifes, lets say less than 10 go do that again.
At the first level try to kill as many bees as possible with the 2sec laser, just above the bee nests, keep fire button pressed while the bees just come on it and die.You will get 10hit combos and get lifes pretty fast. After it hits 50 stop firing, wait for the hit counter to disappear and repeat.(For some reason after 50 it doesn't give extra lifes)
Don't hurt the bee nests until you think you have a lot of lifes.Believe me,some levels require about 30-40 if you play in hard mode.

i got sam 3.0 and it doesn't play any music! why?!

Did you download the full game or just the patch? The full game should have a folder stuffed with .mvo files.

Finally beat the game on easy in version 3.2. It didn't give me the extras, though. Also, is Echo World supposed to take away your wings and powerups? I can't seem to get enough horizontal momentum to clear the gap, I can only pull off at most two downward beam attacks in a row midair, and somersaulting in midair doesn't attack those spikes.

Great technical design and really enjoyable gameplay Jimmi! I found it a bit difficult in some areas, but all the more reason to keep playing. All in all though a really fun game. I'll definitely be playing this one for a while. Keep up the good work!

I like it. Unlike all the other games the higher levels are actually HARDER. Too bad it took up all, but 8 mB of my main disk. Also a tip for going over long jumps: Use your laser downwards (if possible)and keep moving and shooting. Also for boss levels focus on defence and slowly kill them

Agh, looking back in November I hate myself. I even forgot to rate it. Rated. Please make a sequel!

Oh, and Byron I had problems with the ship too, but I figured it out. Blast the oncoming missiles back, so they'll hit the ship. But only if they're both level.
