Game of the Week Winner The Daily Click HIGHLY Recommended

In Knytt Stories, each level is its own little adventure. One level is included with the game, where you have to stop a machine that draws the life out of the planet. An official expansion pack is also featured at the website with four original levels.

The game also comes with a powerful level editor, that does however not come with a documentation. You'll find one at http://nifflas.ni2.se/forum/index.php?board=60.0

A lot of things in the editor are combinations of shift+right/left mouse button. For example, you do not need to click the tileset selector 128 times to get to tileset #128, just shift+click to jump in steps of 10, or use shift+scrollwheel. This applies to most things in the editor.

YES! You posted it!

You're getting my thumbs up even before the download is accepted.

You might want to put a link to the expansion packs in your description

i tried all 3 also and the install file doesnt open for me. Anyone else?

Posted by steve 30th August, 2007

Nevermind it's working now - Love the game so far, very nice indeed

I completed The Machine and Sky Flower/Tower. That was a very ace little level Nifflas

I'm loving this. At first after only playing The Machine, it felt like a Knytt but aimed at the masses. Then I played the other games it's fantastic. The music is beautiful as always.
It can feel a little repetative. And the game needs a download system built into the game to streamline content updates.

Posted by Lachie Dazdarian 30th August, 2007

I'll download it this weekend. I'm on a rather slow connection so I need a nice time buffer for this job.

I am eager to play the game and the expansion packs that are to come. I must admit, I'm not specifically interested in worlds made by other users or to make my own ones. No offense, but YOU are not nifflas. Maybe I'm wrong.

BTW, I donated you 15 $ through Chris (ciw1973). I won a second place on one of his compos (not in Klik community), but sadly he couldn't send me money via PayPal so the money was sent directly through him.

As your other games, this one is brilliant. If only someday you could add map ! What's next ?

Posted by viva/volt 31st August, 2007

Finished The Machine, A Strange Dream, Underwater Lab, Skyflower, (The main part of) The Chamber Of Trials (Not the secret bit yet), Plotless, Blockland and Unfinished

Haven't done Challenges or Afar yet though (Doing afar now )

Awesome game! I want more . Oh and definite thumbs up. Go nifflas!

"If only someday you could add map ! What's next ? "

Um, you can. There's a level editor included.

I think jbjovi meant a "mini-radar"?

Awesome game, once again.

This is wonderful Nifflas. A big improvement from Within A Deep Forest. Great controls and an easy gameplay. I like the many savespots, and I love the environment. Not as much coverage on Gamespot this time though .

Posted by Lachie Dazdarian 31st August, 2007

Just finished The Machine. Brilliant work, once more. And when I think you created all possible sceneries in Knytt, I'm pleasantly surprised again.

Must find time for other levels later.

I would wish though, that each time I pickup a new object I would get info about its characteristics/usage. In the very start there are quite a lot of things/control keys to remember from the tutorial.

OMG someone voted thumbs down without commenting! It's the SYSTEM that's bad! YES.

^^ you're a smart dude.

I'll download this game once I find access to a computer.

I feel like this is a hybrid of the simplicity of Knytt and the puzzle platformer gameplay of WaDF (no matter the intentions), and I don't like the resultant game as much as either of the two.

That said, still a good play and superb atmosphere/sound. Thumbs up.

Forgot to say:
I love the abstract graphics, the wonderful music and the aspect ratio.
Thumps up!

yeah but with a decent system we would know WHO voted without commenting !

Excellent just like the ball game, I love it.
Although I found the ball game more challenging, this is nice as well.

I finished all the games, expansions etc.
One question, was that "Unfinished level" on purpose or did you really lost interest at that point?

Posted by X_Sheep 1st September, 2007

It's on purpose, obviously =P

Posted by Knudde (Shab) 1st September, 2007

I tried, but I just can't get into the game. Everything is beautifully coded though, major respect for that.

Posted by Broomie 1st September, 2007

One of the finest klik games I've played in a while. Congratulations!

Posted by Pariah Leviticus 3rd September, 2007

Love this game. The controls feel so natural, especially once you get the double jump and wall climb, that it is effortless to move through the worlds. Adore the minimalistic sound effects and the graphics. The one thing that I would like to see implemented is support for usb joypads, as I think this would make it feel more professional and hearken back to fond childhood memories... At least for me... Thanks so much for a wonderful game!

I too love this game <3 ...Went through all the levels in the same day I downloaded it! I especially like the large worlds that go on and on, and I can just continue wandering through different sceneries and see the weirdest creatures

I've beaten loads of these now, got a few off your forum. They're very good.

I think that Dreams one if my fave so far. It just seems the biggest and great to get lost in.

Even my 14 year old sister is addicted. Good job there! Got her off that bloody Sims 2 game.

Posted by DaVince 4th September, 2007

I need more levels.

Posted by DaVince 4th September, 2007

Oh yeah, about installing levels: you should make it delete the level directory if the installation of the level failed. It said the dir already existed after I failed to install a corrupt level.

WE NEED A NEW RATING SYSTEM THIS ONE SUCKS

No it doesn't! Look, 48 total votes and 25 downloads. It works perfectly!

The level of detail in the scenes is incredible, the animals interact with you, This game is amazing!!!

Well spotted Mr. Duio!

I'll never understand people on TDC- "The game sucks, but I won't tell you how to improve it!".

Posted by Del Duio 5th September, 2007

I look for a space in the armor and stab away before seeing who's under the helmet, Phizzy!

Loose translation: I saw another opportunity to dis the ratings system and took it, even though I had the same thought you had about the total votes.

Hey, I said dis! Didn't they retire that word? Oh no, that was Def. Oh ebonics, you slay me.

Posted by BROO 5th September, 2007

Downloading ... if it is good: thumbs up, if not: thumbs down .

Why don't you like the vote system. It is so clear: hot or not - everything . Probably most of you (like DaVince) voted even before playing the game... is THIS honest? .

What? I voted after playing the game, because I had the game before it was submitted.

Posted by Teapot 10th September, 2007

This is so absolutely brilliant. I like this much more than I like ED.

Posted by Del Duio 10th September, 2007

I liked ED, but the big difference is I have a snowball's chance with this one!

ED is way too hard, for me at least. Not enough HP plus enemies do a lot of damage. It's really good in its own way though. I couldn't make it

Posted by alastair john jack 13th September, 2007

ED is frustrating. Kyntt is great!

Posted by DaVince 20th September, 2007

ED is great. Knytt stories is great.

Yup, we're surrounded by good games.

My first vote with the new voting system!

I found the new gameplay elements to be quite trivial and unnecessary, but the atmosphere, music and the beautifully crafted and often interesting environments and landscapes are more than enough to earn my five stars! Definitely looking forward to seeing what Nifflas comes up with next.

This is a true masterpiece, it has the atmosphere that a majority of the adventure games are trying to have. I love it. Intuitive is to weak a word to describe the controls. It's art in it's finest hour. Must be cause you're a Swede - Go chilly north!

There isn't much to it really, it's a well made little game with some nice touches but i feel not as great everyone thinks.
The editor does give it some extra life.

Smooth, relaxing, enjoyable... although, I wish the graphics style wasnt so "micro" at times. Its hard to distinguish between harmful objects and passive ones at some points, which is a little frustating.

I just finished playing the game. =P Of course I could say it does not have a lot of things, but based on what is on the game... I believe everything works well and serves its purpose. With that said, I enjoyed playing the game, and considering I actually played through its entirety... I believe it is worth the rating I decided to give it. =D Keep up the good work!

I love this game. Actually played it last night to see what the hype was about. I played have the game on Normal, but later found it more fun playing it on Easy, just to travel the landscape.

There's something strangely magical about the game. It's one of the few games and the only klik game that gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling after playing it. I think the Normal difficulty takes away attention from enjoying the landscape, but it's nice that we were given the choice

I finally managed to get the secret ending in The Machine one, which is the first one.

The graphics are beautiful but quite basic, it just goes to show that graphics aren't always everything.

5 stars from me. This is what platformers SHOULD be like. It's just... fun. Simple, yet with loads of good ideas. Great, atmospheric music, simple but distinctive sound effects, and I love the way you've got it designed so perfectly I never got lost, always seemed to find the right way, learned all of the controls with out looking at the tutorial and managed to complete the game within 20 minutes. So much effort has gone into this it should be illegal for people to rate it lowly. I mean, WHY, people? 2 star? 3 star? There are games made within a couple of hours with ripped graphics and music which get rated higher than that. What is WRONG with some of you?

This game deserves the fame it's got. If only I had thought this idea up first.

One of the best games ever made. If I wan't so biased towards Sonic the Hedgehog, this would be my favourite game - not favourite Click game, my favourite game. It is indeed my favourite non-Sonic game! A brilliant feat indeed! Nifflas, you should be knighted.

A Click Classic, no doubt about it.

Oh, and congrats on winning Game of the Year from Gamasutra. Very well deserved indeed.

In closing, you rock!
