Ok, so I'm sitting at my computer looking at a bunch of old engines lying around, and I find a really good Super Smash Bros. Engine I made a few months ago, but never bothered to use it. So I think "This could make a great game", and then fell asleep, cause I was tired. The next morning I woke up an went to school, stayed up late talking to Muz, and came up with this post.
So, now DC members, is your chance to be in a SSB-ish game. Send in a (within 100x100 pixels) sprite of your charater standing/jumping/walking/running/and 4 moves of your choice + any atributes.
The game will be finished as soon as I balance the charaters and filter though all the uber charaters and tone them down. For short: No uber moves, so the game gets finished faster. Which, knowing this community, it may take a while.
I'm shooting for 35 charaters, and I already have 2. Send sprites and stuff to mmbalfazar@aol.com.

I did something like this on a similar forum. I got a bunch of sprites, but I'm too lazy to finish off the game.
Maybe you should post the sprites you have, to give people an idea of what you're looking for. Mine, for example, had jumping (2 frames), jumping kick (3 frames), walking (4 frames), falling back (4 frames), getting up/crouching (1 frame), two punches (2x2 frames), and picking up/throwing (6 frames). It's easier to work if you have a template.

Yeah, phizzy, you can. I'll upload the other charaters as soon as I get enough time.
Oh, btw, I would count crouching as one of the abilities, as some peoples crouching heighs might be ridiculously low. Also, punches count as your abilities also. And so is the ability to pick up items.
One of my charaters:
Second Jump (not an attack)
Low Kick
Downward Thrust (In the air {down}+{attack})
FireBall
Atributes:
Medium Weight
Speed is fast
Jump is medium
So, as a basic move template,
Recovery move (Second Jump, Side-step, Sheild...)
Physical attack move (Punch, Kick, Throw...)
Range attack move (Fireball, throwing knifes...)
Whatever attack (Recovery, Physical, Range)
You don't have to follow that exactly, but thats what a good balanced charater would look like.

cool idea. to bad i can't pixel at all or i would send you one.
you should make this online game, so you don't need more than one person on a keyboard to play. Or you could make a really good computer AI.
For the game to be good I suggest that you get one style for all the characters to be in. Simply because if you have all these characters in different styles it may not look as good. Or may not seem like they even belong. Does that make sense? Like on smash all the characters are from different games, but their all drawn with the same style and they go together very well. I would'nt mind drawing a character for you if the game had a set style to be based on.
OOH! Id be glad to help, but if its possible, could you upload somekind of template sprite set? I know youve explained all in text, but visualising it would be a lot easier, like radix also somewhat noticed.
