I was wondering how the ranking system works on this site. It seems strange sometimes, for expample games that have the same # of thumbs down and up but the one with less downloads is ranked much higher. Also I was wondering how the "weekly top 10" box worked. Is it a %?
I searched for a topic addressing this but couldn't find one.

Yep, the logic being that a game with 100 thumbs up and 20 thumbs down will be better than a game with only 5 thumbs up. The number in the weekly top 10 is the number of thumbs up too.
But rating isn't linked with GOTW...
I think there should be a star rating like reviews

"lol, thats the dumbest rating system"
Of course, we're always open to suggestions, but I personally think it works quite well. The Top Downloads list reflects the most popular games on the site, and, at the end of the day, that's what we want.
That does work well actually. I was expecting a more complicated system, but that does work I suppose. Only problem is that most people are too lazy to vote after they download. There should be middle thumb, between up and down. The only time I don't vote is when I think a game is between up and down.
If we have a middle thumb, the games might as well be rated out of 5 or 10 instead, because that's where it's heading. I also think that far too many people would 'cop out' and select the middle thumb option, if it was available.
Oh hell, it's not like its an accurate system anyway. It's a no-brainer...and that might just make it appeal more to some people.
LOL, if you're gonna vote a middle thumb, you might as well not vote .
I suggested to Mike to make it so that the games would be based on review averages, but only after they reached about 100 thumbs. But he said that the good games, like ED would also get a LOT of thumbs down just because people like them. Yeah, it's stupid how good games get thumbs down just because people think their good, but that's humanity.
I also suggested a star rating, but since Mike (or was it Clubsoft?) already put a thumbs up system, I think they don't see much point in shifting it to a system just as corrupt.
So, as it is, it works ok. TDC is as democratic a community as you'll find, so as usual, democracy also takes in the opinions of people who shouldn't be heard. Main reason that ED won GOTW is because of the hype surrounding the legendary Blackeye Software, even though it was just as good as a lot of other klik games in terms of gameplay & technology (but still wins in scope).
