I like. If im being picky - I don't like the saturated colours. its like you just used the regular TGF/MMF palette. The resolution seems a little high too. I always find 2D games and hi-res dont go well together. but hey thats just me.
yeah, that comes from thought that I was going to use the Screen Res. object to make it fullscreen, but this is the second time someone's said I should decrease it, so I probably will.
Craps, I'm an old man!

Needs more shading on contrast on the enemies and bosses
I like the hi-tech looking blue walls/platforms and the enemies in the top picture are pretty good, although I agree that an extra shade or two would help - in particular, I think the reptilian enemies could use a few highlights of a much lighter shade to make them look slimy or at least smooth-skinned.
I'd have to say, the gradient fill background and the (stone?) blocks in the top picture look pretty awful, and while the background in the second picture looks better, it's still quite bland when tiled across the whole screen. It may be better also, if you make the backgrounds darker, so that the walls, platforms, enemies etc stand out more.
Yeah, the whole thing has a Metroidish feel (The test version anyway, a couple of people have tried it out).
The Gradients are 100% guarenteed NOT to be in the game, I just put them there cause I was sick of looking at white. Yeah, those blocks are off too, I realized the whole shading problem with that a long time ago, just haven't replace the gfx yet. I'll be updating these screenies today sometime.
@Jay - It IS Samus, but it's a custom job done by SemiJugallo. She's my new CPM Character (like the Ninjuken guy used to be). I just haven't gotten around to replacing her, cause I typically suck horribly at walking animations. Once I get the whole game going (Not just this current playable Beta/Demo-ish thingie) that's the first of things on my to do list.
Yeah, screams Metroid to me too. The walls actually look like they ARE from Metroid, at least in the Tourian area. If they're not, you should definately use them for the platforms / walls.
