Hi my name is Mike and I'm here requesting some help from a coder/programmer. I have been working on many different projects since I have learned of MMF. But it always comes back to the same thing. I am unable to learn the programmers way. Its really tough! I admire and look up to those who have the ability.
I have been able to make a few little things here and there but my talents lay mostly in art, story, level and game design. I am well versed in game design philosophies such as Flow and Risk and Return. I have studied the game design aspects of The Mario, Kirby, Sonic, Kingdom Hearts, Zelda, and Smash bros. Plus a plethora of other games.
Game design is my one true passion but unfortunately I am cursed without the ability to make it all come together. I spend most of my time writing game design documents, and/or drawing concept designs for characters and worlds.
I am looking for someone who will have the same passion as I do about game design and is good at the things I am not. I believe if I had a programmer by my side we would be able to craft the most wondrous of games. In hopes of someone seeing this I will include as many samples of my work as I can find. (in no particular order) <hr>
Screenshots from a game I was working on years ago.
P.S. I tried 10 times to make these screen shots show up...nothing worked.
the art and animation is truly skilled. but the shadows in the screenies are in completely the wrong positiong. the light source is to the left and the shadows should cast to the right. hope you find someone.
I like the animations, especially the static ones. The running animations could use a bit of work (for which there is pixelation and criticism forums of the sort) and you definitely have to work on the shading, since pillow shading is the least eye-candy.
My most current work is at the bottom. I apologize for the shading it was my old works.
I'm more on the concept side although my animation skills have gotten better. If I were to rate myself from 1 to 10 1 being a beginner, and 10 being a professional I would rate myself as such.(pride not involved)
Character Design 6/10
Concepts/Game Design Ideas 9/10
Art 6/10
Animation 5/10
That is just how I rate myself...I am working on all areas currently. I can also 3D model.(I sincerely hope this didn't come off as arrogant)
I'm trying hard not to make a bad impression
I tried to edit my first post but no dice...anyway I found some more of my stuff.
Just some art I did for one of my main characters.
Most of the animations I did were before I learned how to use Graphics Gale, so layering was an issue for me.
(seems like you have to click on this picture to see it in full resolution)
(I made this application so that I could join a team who wanted to make a "megaman.exe7" I was chosen but they turned out to be frauds.) I have not recolored anything, I even made the characters and portraits based on their character designs.)
(this is the character that was designed for that game(not by me)
Yes I have dabbled in the art of isometric. I spent a good deal of time studying isometric.
the way im taking it, you have ideas and art for a game(s) you want created?
thats kinda backwards to how an artist looks for work. usually a coder with his "own" game will seek out an artist to do the graphics, or an artist offering to help any coders with graphics. it may be kinda hard to find someone to code a game for an artist, if you already haven't elsewhere.
my last comment was based on looks only, I only went throu your images and sprites, and didn't even read the main topic
Now I've read it, and let me say that I'm so much like you that it freaks me out!
we suffer from the same syndrome! lolol
I code fairly, not extremely well, but not poorly, and I'd be more than glad to share ideas and make games with you!

He seems pretty adapt in game creation, I wonder what ideas he has. I'd love to make a game with someone who loves game making as me. Unfortunately, I can't create a tech demo for a quick sample of my work because I don't have mmf on this computer, and my profile on TDC are all minigames. If you're available in a few weeks then maybe we can talk?

cec¿l i'm not just an artist I concept designs, make game documents, write stories. Also I would never just ask to have a game made. If I were to get a partner I would work along side them all the way; through emails, instant messages and voice chat. My goal and I hope the goal for anyone else who joins me is simply to learn.
double post. i know. twas what should have been inferred from "you have ideas and art"
wasnt doubting your design and story writing capabilities. a great amount of your ability is in the arts area it seems tho and so your post showed also.
what i'm saying is most coders already have an idea, and just need an artist. not many artists say "i have an idea" and get a coder to help along side them.
don't take anything i said as negative. i think your stuff is great. and i hope you find/found someone.
