I wasn't expecting that... It wasn't intended to be part of the GOTW contest... O_O Will the full version be eligible when I release it? I wonder if BOM was picked because there weren't any other good entries... (Not saying there were, I don't remember.) Now that my confusion has passed... WHERE'S MY FANCY DEDICATED NEWS POST? WITH A PITCHAH?
BOM was not picked because there was nothing else good. People see how well you did and supported you. The full version will still be eligible. For your dedicated post, not always does a GOTW get a dedicated post, but go check the GOTW page.
I was joking about the dedicated news post. I'm really glad it got a spot on the front page. Thanks everyone who voted for it, and supported me! I've got so many hilarious things planned for it, when it's finally done I think everyone will like it.
It's not that I don't "support you", but I must say that it's kind of messy that a comparision between your incomplete custom movment and the built-in movment of some klick-program got that kind of status, especially since you have already submitted a demo a while ago.
I don't think this is proper use of gotw, now someone will have to host that (since I expect that you intend to finish the actual game) more or less pointless app to keep it available as an gotw. I can accept that an impressive demo of a game that might never get completed can become a gotw, but why something that is just a preview of the game. That app was nothing but an interactive screenshot.
I can't argue with the people who voted for it (I don't think I will get anywhere with that), but why did it get into that form in the first place? I do admit that aerocity was quite hard to get a grip of, but I think it would have been much better to show that apps creator some support, there was a lot of work put into it.
... Well, first of all, I didn't intend for it to enter the GOTW contest. It was mainly submitted so that I could get people's opinions on what to do. Second, I don't really think it's that big of a deal. It would've been hosted anyway. Many many download submittals are far more "pointless" than that one and I'm fairly surprised at what you're saying. What else is a game but an interactive screenshot? And what do you mean it's "messy" that my game got attention? I don't like the sound of what you're saying.
I'm sorry, you took it the way I didn't want you to take it, I do consider BOM to be a wonderful project.
However, as you say yourself, you only posted that comparision to get peoples opinion on what to do, that's exactly what I mean. Like if you had posted a picture and asked for peoples opinions considering the graphics on that screenshot. Moreover, the playable part of that ap have already been posted as a demo.
I just think it's sad that someone else who had worked really hard and actually made a pretty advanced game, lost his chance for a gotw, because his submission was hard to appriciate, and your ap was there as an alternative. Isn't it better if you get a gotw for the finished product? Of course, for you it's only fun to get an easy extra gotw just like that, but... well, I still think it's not quite right. I would want the gotw archive to be a list of aps that are all fun to use and worth to be downloaded, I'm interested by your comp.ap just because I'm interested in you project.
Hope you see what I mean... I would want the gotw to be there as a reward to people who actually managed to completly finish something.
He didn't lose his chance. If it were better, it would've won! I'm not trying to act all high-and-mighty () but I don't see any legs under what you're saying.

There are so many frustratingly wrong things in there I'm not even going to start. However, I'm not worried about it, I realize you weren't intending it to be offensive or anything. I just happen to disagree and sit here boggled at your logic. I'll delete this post once you've gotten the reply.
Oh well.
It's up to the admins to determine what is and is not worthy of being in the archive of stuff that should be rememberd on this page, so I didn't want to argue with you in the first place anyway.
Too bad that you can't see my point, maybe it's because of my limited english skills... oh well.
Good luck with BOM, isn't it time for a devlog?
Why should you delete a thread anyway? It's not like it takes a lot of space on the server.
Hey, it's no big deal. I'm sort of at a crossroads on BOM. My artist wants to quit on me. I can draw acceptably, but it wouldn't be as good or match the style already established. Once I get the bugs cleared up really the only difficult thing is having the graphics I need... There isn't much to put in the devlog since I haven't made any progress. (Except maybe my new logo. )
