I understand that the 4-word limit exists to minimise spam posts, but is there any chance that members who frequently write good posts could be exempt from the limit? Sometimes all you want to post is a link or an image.
Before it was introduced, people were submitting posts containing things like "lol" without even thinking about it. Since the 4 word limit was introduced, that has died down quite a bit so it tells me that it works. Sure the system can be avoided anyway, but it's really there to remind those spammers from actually spamming and maybe make them think twice about posting stupid stuff.
Is the system annoying you for some reason? Most of your posts should be more than four words anyway, so you won't hardly ever get the message. I'll maybe look into allowing posts that contain just a link/image when I have time.
Thanks Ricky. I figured that someone would've brought this up before, but I found nothing when I searched.
Phizzy basically said "lol that's dumb! WORD!", so I'm not surprised none of the admins gave a very insightful response. Here, I'm suggesting that the limit stays in place but with some exceptions. I actually agree the word limit because it stops "lol" and "+1" for the most part.

There are things that annoy me more, such as why Circy's face appears beside my name each time I post, or why it's necessary to display DC points and stars when neither of them really mean anything. Anyway, the word limit isn't a big deal, but it is annoying when a short reply/link/image is relevant. See "The Real You 2008" for example. Allowing links, images and youtube code would be perfect. Until then I guess we can just hammer the <b> button a few times.
It's mainly to discourage people from posting, lol, I guess. It seems to annoy people enough from writing spam posts, though not from quoting someone and then writing a spam post.
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
