I tried Ricky's joke app (I'm not saying it's his fault), logged off, but my computer froze. When I restarted it, came the normal Vista loading screen and session selection screen, but then, no desktop and taskbar. I only get a window openned to my documents.
It seems like all my files are intact and I can still open applications. Got any idea of what to do?
They don't, this is just what happens whenever Explorer.EXE either crashes or fails to load for whatever reason. It usually restarts itself back up after about 30 or so seconds, but on the off chance it doesn't, restarting always seems to work. The most common reason for it to happen is whenever people lock up a folder somehow, or make a folder think it's not responding by copying a huge file over, then trying to interact with it. Theres a chance you'll cause a "This program has stopped responding..." window to pop up. If you End the task, Explorer will crash which will get rid of the taskbar, icons, pretty much anything operated by Explorer.

Yep, I am awfully familiar with this process. And restarting Explorer manually.
