I don't have any money to donate to TDC, but I wish I did. This site is really great and I wish I could help.
I was just thinking, though... what if there were an option to purchase points, rather than only obtaining them through general TDC activity? I know from playing stuff like MySpace mobsters and things like that, that people do actually pay for stuff like that.
I think I used the word "that" too much in that last sentence.
Anyway, it was just an idea I had. May have already been brought up, but I figured I might as well throw it out there anyway.
There are ads. O_o People have to click on them. But if I remember right even when people do click on them it's nowhere near enough to fund the site.
I probably wouldn't purchase points unless they were put to some use or if I just got them indirectly from donating. (Which is weird and contradictory, I know.) E.g., if we had a community game like the DC world that never got finished, you could use points to get into exclusive rooms or play exclusive games or buy fancy houses. That idea is piddly but better than nothing.
But I like ads. These days you could use adblockers if you don't want them anyway.
