So here in England we have more snow than usual! There was 2 feet of the stuff in our back garden, but its all compacted and icy now. And there's more on the way they over the next couple of days.

Fun fun fun in the snow snow snow (unless you're driving or can't walk to school/college/uni/work)

Theres a picture above. It might take a while to load.

Beauteous! We're getting a bit here too. I was waiting for my next class when everyone started making a mass exit. Apparently the campus closed! Love this time of year... if we actually get snow. It was a few weeks late for Christmas though.

The novelty really has worn off. We've all had enough snow 'fun' for one year; I'd like to go to Huddersfield this weekend!

Jimmi; must be bad round your area - I worked up in Shaw not too long ago and it was pretty icy round there, had to miss work a couple of times.

It's not that bad at all, I'm tired of people going completely over the top about it. Yes, it's snowed more than usual, but other countries in Europe get it so much worse, Sweden being one of them.

It's really bad up on the very tops near Rishworth moor. There's a giant 15' deep snowdrift near Grains Bar (if you knows it, noodle), theres a whole epic valleys worth of snow collected up against a wall and kids are now digging tunnels in it.

I'd massively love to see what it's like on the moors! It's probably a sight of brilliance.

Adam, yea you're right but it's not that common to get so much snow in the UK, so when it does happen its kind of a big thing. The Swedes and other snow-related countries are probably used to it and better equipped for it.

You say that, but I remember getting this much when I was a child, and it was coped with. Granted, it's colder than it has been for many years, but it's only "bad" due to a crappy government and councils being unprepared to grit roads properly.

Still a tiny tad of snow on the ground here but not near enough to go sledding in. Can't say I'd want to go outside that bad though. Besides, my braces came off yesterday and my new mandolin came today.

Yeah, we've got a lot more snow here then usual too. It's pretty crazy. Haha. FIGURES, the year after I graduate, all these nut-balls are getting all the two hour delays and cancellations that I've wanted. Now I get nervous with snow because the weather in Pittsburgh isn't always the same as here and if my school doesn't cancel, but the buses do, I'm screwed.

@Adam: And you call me the asshole, Adam. Theres no need for this kind of hostility over something so minuscule.

Classic case of a nostalgic view making things seem bigger - it's so weird that we'd have so much snow, and without any kind of thaw. It's definitely the biggest/worst amount of snow I've ever seen, and I must the of a similar age to Adam. I remember a couple of years ago we had I think approximately two snowy days - this winter we've had snow on the ground for a whole month, and it keeps on partially thawing, freezing again and then being trapped under more snow (a bit like sedimentary rock). I don't think it's a surprise the councils have been caught out on this one.

What we have here is most surely piddly compared to what you have. My area doesn't get much snow (), which is why I'm glad we have a fair bit now. I'm happy just to have the grass completely covered.

This is our first real snow of the winter, so it hasn't become oldfangled yet this year.

Even down in the south of England, which is always really mild weather-wise, we've got a fair amount. A few inches on the ground that over the last couple of days have compacted down into something resembling an ice-rink. Still Uni has been closed and I've been given a week's extension on all my deadlines, so not all bad. x)

Oh yeah, and people have been panic buying milk and bread, this makes me laugh. Even if you were to be rendered helpless by three inches of snow outside your door, why bread and milk?

I'm kind of envious that you're getting so much snow. We have hardly any here. I did have a chuckle at the BBC News reporter calling the weather "apocalyptic" though.

I always laugh at the news when a snow storm comes. "We got less than an inch last week. Several in the Hamilton area reported that they almost died by slipping on the melted and re-frozen ice on the sidewalk. We dodged a very, big bullet. Back to you, Kim!"
