its a sidescroller shooter with elemental effects to certain guns.
right now there is fire, bounces around a bit and deals damage.
Ice, causes enemies to slow and sometimes stop.
Lightning sticks to enemies and deals damage
Blast explodes and causes high amounts of damage
acid stays on the ground and deals damage to passing enemies.
Anyone got any other ideas for other elements?
[Game design makes my brain feel like its gonna explode.]

Well you figure, you have the basic elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Air, surely you can figure out ways to work with that by combining them. Need ideas? Play Magicka, on Steam; A game based entirely on the idea of combining elements to create a whole wealth of nearly seemingly limitless spell types, considering you can not only combine 8 different elements, but you can combine up to 5 different elements at once.

You could have lava that launches out a projectile, which explodes on contact with a hard surface or enemy and sets fire to anything it touches for a brief period.
Microwaves can shoot a wave or a narrow beam that penetrates armor and/or several targets at once.

Shurikens, guns that create weather effects (storms, blizzards), poison gas missiles (or just poisoned tip shots), fruit guns (I play too much Tyrian), charge-up, piercing, holy (I know you have undead!), sonic waves (a screaming gun?), ion cannon targeter, force push-away/knockback, 'vampire' healing shots.

Thanks for all the comments guys! ill have a few new elements to add in. air and earth for sure perhaps they will work something like this...
Air causes group pushback (a few weapons knock enemies back but not in groups)
Earth possibly... causes stones to fall on the enemies? or maybe jut up from the ground? idk ill have to think on it.
poison to deal dps wherever the enemy goes for a short period.
Im thinking for the laser beams and radiation and what not ill just make special weapons and alien weapons for those, that way its not applied to all the common guns.
I like the idea of weather effects in weapons as well! good thinkin everyone.
i had already been thinking of adding in holy and dark weapons, im not entirely sure what to do for them though.
im thinking dark will heal a certain amount of the enemies health when you kill an enemies and maybe holy will heal a certain amount every so often when a bullet hits? idk. still thinking on it. great ideas though!
