ok, i think everyone's noticed the stream of useless articles that's flooded the article section. the articles section is, IMO, primarily for articles realting to "physical" aspects of klicking. like how to assign gravity to an object, or code a chat app, etc.
i'm not knocking the authors of these specefic articles, but we'll soon be getting to the point of every other article being about how everyone is nasty, which is just a waste of everyone's time.
so, if you dont want to see any more articles like this, sign your name here and maybe people will get the message, and something can be done about it.
There's a difference between an actual article and someone voicing their oppinion on a topic. I think the oppinion 'articles', like the ones you mentioned Pete, should be strictly for the forums and to be discussed in that matter.
Articles should be of the useful and through provoking variety. They should give you tips, pointers, spawn ideas, and be in someone way useful. More of a tutorial or brain storm rather than you "well here's what I think about something". It should based around fact rather than oppinions.
Count me in to your frat party...i mean petition.

Let me start by asking you if you know what an Article is? They are not ALL Tutorials with examples. Infact I liked both of those articles, they were good reads. I'd also like to read many more articles based on things such as someone talking about there favorite klik games, and what made them so good. I'd like to read an article by someone interviewing a team that has absolutly no connection to the person interviewing. I would like more articles about the community. I want to read what people would like to see in games, have seen enough of in games, can't get enough of in games. Not every article is a Tutorial. I want variety like in a magazine, who knows? Maybe we will eventually get a Klik Magazine? Anyway, I'm sure you get my point. Maybe its time to catagorize the articles aswell, like into Tutorial, news, interview, thoughs on, etc. What do you think of that?
We all know the definition of 'Article', but we also all know the definition of 'Waste.' The number of articles wasting DC space and member's time is getting rediculous.
We have rehashes of existing articles, in my opinion, article topics should not be recycled without any significant revelations. We also get small crappy paragraphs about nothing important, a lot of articles flaming newbies, a lot of articles defending newbies, and the past few weeks have seen lots of articles about how mean people are, and a couple of retarded articles that were thankfully deleted (Remember 'ban old men from DC', anyone?)
The situation is getting rediculous, cos there's too much crap to wade through in the articles section before anything useful is found. No wonder noobs aren't learning anything when they can't find a decent tutorial.
Count me in,
we need some good stuff
and not people's opinion about the gameworld
and what he or she thinks about a klik-game,
that needs to be a review.
But SircatmaN DO have one good point (so I think). I also miss something like a "klik magazine". Something like whats going on in the community, whats the "major" teams doing etc etc.
Several mod communities (HL mods/BF1942 mods and more) have stuff like that. That would be cool. Thats partly also why I miss Planet Klik.
If that should be placed in articles or not is an intirely different discussion (Id say no).
I think the articles need a pre-post moderation. Something that will let them all see it in a private page and atleast one of them would give it the okay for posting. The only ones who lose in this are the people who intentionaly write crap, and the people who dont know any better, they can receive a nice lil DC msg telln them it wasnt approved for what ever reason.
Articles are not the place for opinions, dated newbie topics, spam, or anything else that is not a) click related, and b) instructional!
Also, if any newbies are reading this; NO questions on the articles board please. Shove em in the forums' code-it section instead.
Of course, we've all been here so many times before, and know that it's not going to have any effect on the number of useless opinionated articles we get given, lol.
