People on this site are always complaining. “Oh, it’s full of newbie bashers.”; “Oh, everyone flames everyone else”; “Oh, all the games here suck”.
Blah, blah, blah. Well, here’s some news for you. This is the REAL world, this is LIFE. Everywhere you go, in any society, there will be bullies, there will be people who constantly complain, or people who don’t adhere to the rules, or whatever. This is a “society”. Well, OK, not really, but we’re a community. And there will always be negative people in a community.
I’ve said this before, and some people don’t want to accept it. They think that just because we share a common interest in game creation that we can all get along fine. This is bullshit. There will always be differences of opinion; arguments will break out; flame wars will start. And for every flame “extinguished” by an admin’s censorship, there will still be bad blood and the ashes will still be left, glowing, waiting to be re-ignited. So censorship, for all the good it seems to do, doesn’t really work. And of course, not everything is censored.
And don’t think that just because this is the internet that we can all be happy and friendly to each other. Someone said (I think it was Paul) that we act differently online. OK, maybe a bit, but not drastically. And I think that any change there is in our behaviour is for the worse. I mean, you can get away with saying stuff online that you’d never say to someone face to face (unless you wanted a broken nose). So we can all sit here in our chairs, throwing insults back and forth to each other on opposite ends of the Earth and think nothing of it. To us, online, our actions have few consequences.
So, does that mean that the Daily Click is like a society, with its bullies and its flamers, only magnified because of the social invulnerability we possess? Well, not really, because we still have the good guys. Yes, just like a community has its criminals, we also have our policemen. Not just the admins, but also anyone intelligent enough to present a reasonable viewpoint in a sea of mindless insults. These people aren’t uncommon. I see this sort of thing all the time.
In conclusion, what we have here is just like ANY community of people. And there is no way in hell we can hope to change it. There is no chance that all the flamers will be gone, and no chance all the newbie bashers changing their ways and posting constructive comments. Even if we do ban them, then someone else will come to fill their place. So, complaining is absolutely pointless. I’m not saying don’t complain, although it may make “them” think “they’re” winning if we do it too much.
Go back to your lives; and face up to reality. It’s not going to stop. Sorry to be bleak, but that’s just fact. Thanks for reading.

There is no chance that all the flamers will be gone, and no chance all the newbie bashers changing their ways and posting constructive comments.
There's also no chance that all of the whiners will be gone, either
However right you may be, the flamers will still flame and the whiners will still whine. That's life. Some people are opinionated. Some people won't listen unless it's what they want to hear. Therefore, it's virtually impossible to get people to change, and you can spend your time in better ways than trying to get one person to alter their perception of Daily Click and online communities. You may want to write about it but ultimately it does very little, for in the online community, people's actions have few consequences and they can think whatever they like - the worst that can happen is a ban. Sorry to be bleak, but that's just fact (as you said).

Pete, you have made a very good point here. It's a shame that most people will ignore it, and continue to moan. Ah well, that's life...

I think the community is a lot better non-flamer wise than it has been in the past anyway. I agree with you Pete but as many people are still going to carry on flaming, just as many are going to ignore this and still complain

you're right, death reaper. i should have added another point; that is "you can never change people's behaviour". i didnt intend for anyone who is already a complainer to take the blindest bit of notice of it. thats life.

Well, I don't mind some complaining and flaming but people who do it all the time should be banned. They serve no purpose other than to stir up trouble.
