I'm working on this little RPGs that actually gives special attention to all the races and genders in RPGs (kinda like Fallout 4) and I was wondering... what do female dwarves look like?
I mean, all those games out there show clearly what all the genders in other races look like. Hobbits, gnomes, elves, orcs, etc... there's a pic for just about all of them except the female dwarf.
What's a female dwarf like? I mean those male elves are all skinny, pale, and feminine-like since elves are 'beautiful'. Dwarves are short, stocky, masculine, and gruff. The females gnome have that nice old lady look, but what makes dwarves look different from gnomes is the beard. So does that mean the females look like short bearded ladies?
What is it that turns on the male dwarves? If they were attracted to human qualities, I suppose there would be half-dwarves, like the half-elves and half-orcs in AD&D. Or does this semi-racial thing only apply to demi-humans of... similar size to humans?
Oh wise Jon Chambers, master of female-related TDC posts, would thy know the answer? Or would Ashman, master of reproductional acts be knowledgable in this matter? Or would there be some other creative young sheep out there who can tell me what they think?

in some of the older RPG's i think their excuse was the dwarves take great pride in hiding away their women or somthing like that....thats why your never able to go them in RPGS
female dwarves in divine divinity just look like men with tits and no beard

I seen loads of real life dwarf women before, but I can't help you with fantasy ones. I think maybe they do actually have beards, and as a result they blend in with the male dwarves.
The game Never Winter Nights showed female drwarves as little fat women with big boobs, lol, Im not sure about the beard thing. Look at the screen shots of the game, its pretty good, but then again just because they put there drawfs one way, doesnt mean its the way it was.

Not all societies out their marry for sex appeal. Perhaps you want to make the dwarves in your RPG more keen on marrying richer women, or women from families with a history of strong MEN, thereby increasing their chances of having strong children who will bring honour and prosperity to the family line.
Maybe RPG Dwarves don't actually have a physical specification for what is attractive and what isn't, but take a far more... logical... approach to things?
Hmm... short, tough, no beards, and big tits. I should've realised that . Circy's little image helped.
Yeah, I did quite a bit of research on Asian and European medieval/feudal social conduct. Generally, nobility (and probably adventurers) marry for excessively good looks, money, or bloodline. I guess most players would also do the same thing with their characters .
So, yes, Dines, I suppose you're right. Perhaps the dwarves do go for the tough ladies. I'll probably not put marriage in my game any time soon, but it's a good point.
But right now, my problem is actually trying to put that 'flirt' skill to use with the female dwarves.

It's good to see more Discworld fans out there. I think Battle Bread is the most inventive idea ever, especially 'Drop Scones', and the variants that explode, showering the area in razor-sharp crumbs. Oh, the humanity.
According to Pratchett, a Dwarven mating ritual is finding out what gender the other Dwarf is.
