Lets make a 3 strike system. Every time you break a rule its a strike. 3 strikes and your out. People shouldnt be banned without warnings. Each time somone offends on a forum or breaks a rule, a star will apear by their name.
How bout it?????
and they can be removed with apologies or something.
The people who have been banned were all given informal warnings, and if theyre stupid enough to continue than they get what they deserve. Plus people can abuse this system, be a twat twice and still get another chance. And why the hell should an admin apologise to someone whos broken the rules
'Oh, sorry Mr Muderer, sir, but youve killed three people now and it is getting a tad bit naughty, we're gonna have to put you in gaol now, yeah I know, I know, Im sorry. Sorry again, yep bye.'
'oh yeah? he's thrown a kettle over a pub, what have you done?'
Nah, cos I'm afraid "Ashman (name brackets are hip)************************************************************************" will screw up the asp code.
Show me the power child,
I'd like to say,
That I'm down on my knees today,
Gives me the butterflies,
Gives me away,
'Til I'm up on my feet again,
I'm feeling outshined.
After you get three warning stars, you should be banished to a new forum called the Sin Bin. These users can only post in the sin bin, which is moderated by another fellow Sin Binner decided each week by the people in the Sin Bin through a vote. If anyone in the Sin Bin does not vote, they will be put in Jail (more on this later.) The moderator of the Sin Bin can give demerits to other users within the Sin Bin. He can also give admin-approved merits. If a user gets 3 merits (or 5 if it's a weekend) they can be put on probation, where they are allowed to make one post or submit one item per day, but their post background should be pink and their avatar should be made a picture of someone wearing a silly hat. At the end of each month all users on probation will get reviewed by the admins and decided if they will be let in on a case-to-case basis.
Users earning enough demerits in the Sin Bin will be sent to Jail. Users in Jail will only be able to visit the Jail, which will moderated by GOTW winners. People in Jail will only be able to get out by making a really good game or write a really good article or do something else of great worth to the community (which will be decided by GOTW winners on weekdays, admins on weekends to even the workload out) The jail should be in drab colours, decorated with something off-putting and unattractive like animated GIFs of flaming skulls. Heavy moderation should be put into place in the prison, with bad words like Darn, Barf and Poo being censored out. However, users can still cause trouble in the prison within the inmates, which is why there would be seperate Solitary Confinement forums made for each users. These forums will be completely black, and the user will only be able to visit this forum (Admins may make weekly visits but must not post anything. If admins are caught posting by other admins they must be reported to the Council). After 1 month users will be taken out of Solitary Confinement and put back in Jail.
Users in Jail or the Sin Bin will be able to file an appeal with the Council. The Council is selected at random from GOTW winners or posters with the most forum posts or submissions. If an appeal is filed, the Council can review the Appeal and submit it to the Admins for final concideration if it is deemed worthy. Normal users (but not users in the Sin Bin, Jail or Solitary Confinement) may appeal to the Council for a change in admins. This is a very serious issue, and may only be submitted if a form with 30 signatures (including at least 5 GOTW winners and 1 other Admin) is provided. The admins will then run a series of contests for the new admin nomniees, which must consist of one game making competition with a theme, like Christmas or Halloween, and two others at the choice of the council (unless the competition is specified on the Appeal). The winners of the competition will then become an Acting Admin for at least a month. They are reviewed at the end of this month by the Council and the Admins, and if they are deemed worthy an Email is composed and sent to Richard Simmons who will then decide if the admin will stay.
I feel these suggestions can be easily coded into The Daily Click, making it a fairer and safer place for everyone.
at hamish's idea, but can't we just have the Geocities eye-incinerating colours and FlamingText.com 'kewl logo' for people who break the rules? I mean, going by Shad's track record, I wouldn't be surprised to see everyone break out of jail
how do you ban people anyay? blocking the ip is not always gonna work... what if they have a dynamic ip changer thingy, then they never (or very very very rarely) have the same one
