Australia Day - the 26 January - is our day to celebrate. It's our day to show our national pride and rejoice in our achievements. What makes Australia special? The People The life savers on the beach and the famers in the bushl the larrikinsl our sporting heroes, artists and visionaries; the volunteers who dedicate their lives to others; the spirit of pulling together in hard times and achieving beyond expectation; the eminent Australians from all walks of life, the battlers and the ordinary Australians who are anything but ordinary. Our Land Fragile yet enduring. Harsh and extreme, lush and bountiful - a continent like no other. Our ancient land offers boudless opportunity, sustains us and makesus who we are. Our Diversity A nation of difference and unity. People from the city, the country, different nations and backgrounds; we are one people, living together. Through our diverse beliefs and experiences we learn from each other and grow together. Our Freedom and Democracy A society built on fundamental rights and responsibilities. Freedom of thought and expression. Participation in government and respect for and equal under the law. A Fair Go For All An enduring spirit of mateship and fairness. A compassionate society committed to access to employment, housing, health and education. Ours is a land of opportunity where we can do anything. It's the day for everyone who calls themselves Australian - a day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we can be proud of in our great nation. unless you plan on having an article celebrating every countrys diversity on each day when that country has a holiday set for that, this seems a bit biased. not that i really care, but i just thought id say it. :)

if u look at the NedStat counter/hit report of the site (even tho its not english, its rather easy to interpret) youll see that (or last time i checked anyways) most visitors are american, followed by british. i dont remember where australians places......

Wow...that is gold! Makes me good to be Australian when I hear some fair dinkum true Blue patriotism broadcasted over an international site...gives the site a homely feel to it, amongst all of the bollocks and what not. I guess it's one of those days that we take pride in, for the rest of you who don't fully understand, I mean Mike is showing his true colours, and being the admin of the site he has the power to say this kinda stuff...and it should be comforting those who care about their nation and touching their Aussie hearts under all of that sunburnt tan skin and thick hair, hidden amongst a button up flannelete shirt, where they're holding their cold beer against and singing along to a great Australian rock balled sung by Barnzy...ummm enough about my Australia Day anyway...hope ya enjoy all you blokes and sheilas out there...it's been a nice one for me so far!

Isn't it funny how Americans and Australians are mostly decended from Brits, but beat us at our own games and call us names (pommies etc). I don't think that's right, they should be more grateful. That's my view anyway.
