New Game: Machines of Destruction
News posted 29th February, 2004 by ShadowCaster
Have FAIND ever made a bad game? No? Then why haven't you started downloading their new game, Machines of Destruction, yet? It combines my two favourite pass-times, that is, car racing and shooting things; it even lets you customise your own gun. It contains three game modes: Race, Deathmatch and Ion Soccer. It's designed for single-player, lan-gaming, and internet modes, allowing players, spectators and bots to join the action. Be sure to check it out! Comments from the Author: Machines of Destruction is mixture of racing through a circuit and wasting your opponents with a combination of the guns mounted on your car, best played on a LAN. Start a game and chat in the lobby with other joiners. Unlimited spectators can join also, on top of the maximum of 4 players. Choose from either a race, a deathmatch, or ‘ion Soccer’, in which mode the players are split into two teams and must carry and then 'kick' the metallic ball through the goals. Holding the ball for too long will make it red hot, and very dangerous! Click Here to download this game and read its reviews

And if you're a big fan of games that describe things in terms of themselves, then you'll love MOD! (For example: "EMPRapist : Rapes their ass with EMP") 8)

FA have released several uninspiring games. Aside from Douglas Circumstance and Furry, there's nothing to really shout about. Commandos pretty good too. The other games, at best IMO are average, and the same goes for this (I posted my reasons in the Natomic forums)

SHUT UP CIRCY

Posted by ben_02 1st March, 2004

I knew you'd say that Circy. And you know what, you can just fuck off because nobody gives a rats ass about your unhealthy obscession with Nintendo platformers. I bet you didn't play this game for even 10 minutes, which is NOWHERE NEAR enough to even begin to understand how it works, or whether its fun or not. Stop throwing your opinion around like anyway cares.

Alright after calming down a bit I guess I said that pretty harshly but I'm still disgusted that you call my game uninspired.

I'd have to say that some of the most inspiring games I've ever played are Siege and MoD, both FAInd games.

Well Ben, you clearly give a rats ass about my opinion, don't you. I said in another forum (Natomics I think) that perhaps uninspired was the wrong word. And you're not exactly taking my critisism very well either :P

Why should he? Not all games are made to appeal to the great Lord Circy

And besides, I doubt that he wants straight out criticism directly following the release after spending hours upon hours of work on it, at least without it being constructive or giving any credit to the work done.

Hey, at least I didn't insult it, unlike some certain individuals. I bet you if I were to review it at Klik-Me (and I'd give it a 6/10 tops, if I did) I'd get a barrage of insults for stating my opinion. My opinion is NOT the definitive opinion, it never has been and never will be. I prefer my games to be fun, and MoD, to me, isn't. Although as I said, its very well coded, props to Ben there, but I see it as a fairly dull game. I'm not saying its crap, because it isn't. Theres just something... lacking. Yes, I'm unable to access the online mode, but really, what am I missing? The bots are intelligent and all that, but if I dislike the game based on the offline mode, I fail to see why I should like it with the online mode. I've accepted critisism for MSD, both negative and positive, without reacting badly. However I will not tolerate insults about me regarding that game. With MoD, I never insulted it, I stated its shortcomings based on my opinion, and regardless of whether you disagree or agree with my opinion, if you insult me about it then you can kiss my arse.

Ok, fine. 1. The online mode doesn't work - and its not just for me, its for a lot of people. 2. I think its fairly boring. All there is for me to do is to kill other bots. Ok, so theres a football mode, but it still boils down to Robot Wars-esque gameplay. Why not have a mission mode or something? Ok, so it'd mean more work, but at least it'd give the people unable to use D-Play a reason to download the game. As it is, its very limited. 3. The W,A S,D key controls are annoying... I'd prefer something like the arrow keys. You'd need three pairs of hands to be able to get your bots to jump, shoot and move. 4. You cant move the main window. The other windows, you can, but in a resolution of 800x600 you'd lose half of them. An option to minimize them, perhaps? So there you go. Legitimate reasons for not liking this game as much as I should do, and why I think it deserves a 6/10

The main reason I didnt take your opinion very well, was because you dragged all of FA's games into it, and didn't give even a single reason. You are scoring the game in a single player context. Thats like reviewing Quake 3 Arena for its campaign mode. If you don't have a LAN to play on, then I guess the game isnt for you. But that doesnt mean its just an 'average' game. This is why I wish people would be more objective about their comments and reviews.

Posted by The Chris Street 2nd March, 2004

I thought my last comment was fairly objective and more than reasonable. I probably would get the most out of this game if I could actually access it, but I can't. Anyway, sorry if I offended you Ben

Ok. Conflict over.

Posted by Daniel 2nd March, 2004

Just buy yourself some friends and try out the LAN mode, Circy. W,A,S,D controls and not being able to move the window doesn't seem like big enough issues to knock it down 2 extra points.

Posted by The Chris Street 3rd March, 2004

Maybe not, but I got bored with it. Thats why Ive knocked it. Anyway as Ben said, conflict over :P PS: I dont use my PC to play commercial games

the wasd keys are the first keys to change between keyboard of different languages , exemple :if W become Z and A become Q , the game is un plyable , you will have to install the keyglish keyboard set ...
