I haven't posted for quite a while, and I'm sorry about that. Having been pre-occupied with various other things I've found less and less time to help run TDC, so I express my apologies for that.
Firstly, I would, on behalf of myself and the other administrators, wish to thank every member of The Daily Click who has continously supported our community. Without you guys and girls, there would be no community (well, yes, there would be actually, but I believe that TDC is the only klik site on the internet that brings the community together, and captures the true feeling of the community). So give yourselves a hearty pat on the back for supporting us.
Secondly, this year has had its highs and lows. The obvious high, of course, being the release of Multimedia Fusion 2 and The Games Factory 2, and generally most individuals agree that Clickteams products have lived up to the hype. All of us at TDC wish to thank Clickteam for their wonderful products, and their genuine generosity with supplying, as usual, significant prizes in our regular Christmas competitions.
Other highs involve, once again, the community, who have released some really good games this year. Without naming specific games, as it would be unfair to those not mentioned, the standards of games are really improving as we, the klikkers, learn more and more about the products that fuel our desires to become aspiring amateur game developers.
Two websites have been resurrected this year in a continuing effort to keep the community active - firstly, Arthur Lee (aka Podunkian) has resurrected the infamous Total Klik, while Flava has twice resurrected The Clickzine. both sites are doing pretty well and we urge you all to continue supporting them. Flava has in fact had a good year, klik-wise, as the TDC administration team voted for him to become our newest admin. He has not disappointed and we haven't regretted our decision.
There was also some unhappiness this year, sadly. We lost two klikkers to the cruel hand of death, and both will be missed. Ryan Mercer (aka Novasoft) died in November, while Darran Baker (DeathreaperX) passed away back in July. Both will leave a noticeable hole in the community, and both will be missed.
A slightly less negative note, but still unwelcome all the same, was the demise of Klik-Me. Jannis Stoppe left it early in the year to seek pastures new, and in the meantime, Jimbob took over the reins. Sadly though, Jimbob himself eventually chose to leave. At the moment the site remains in limbo, to be unupdated for all eternity.
Natomic Studios and Fallen Angel also disappeared for much of the year. Both developers are rumoured to be working on new site designs, but have been publically inactive, while groups such as Crobasoft and Ectoprods are starting to make a big name for themselves.
All in all, it's been a very mixed year for the click community. Ups and downs, ins and outs, but one thing has remained constant; the community spirit has been here the entire time, and its iron grip refuses to let go. Who knows what 2007 will bring? My predictions: A new community site to rival TDC, a complete TDC redesign, Clickteam announcing a new product at the next Click Convention (1st September 2007), and maybe, just maybe, a finished game from yours truly!
All that remains to say is to wish each and every one of you a HAPPY CHRISTMAS!
