GOTW #226: Scientology Pwned

Scientology Pwned is the narrow victor in this weeks GOTW, created by Jerry. The game plays in a similar sort of way to Destruction Carnival.

Yes, more games were submitted this week, but don't forget, we don't allow demos, shareware, or multiple games by the same author. Though it seemed to have been overlooked last week... ;)

I think this was wrong. Swistakowy Klopot 2 was a more worthy winner. Don't get me wrong, I think Scientology Pwned was cute and all, with nice gameplay, but SK2 was a huge, complex, top-quality game. A full game which keeps you hooked for hours and hours again. SP kept me going for about 7-8 minutes, and I love games like DC.

I think it's bad taste to put down the GOTW in a place where it should be given its round of congratulations for its victory.

Not everybody agrees on the game that deserves to win every week, that's an old arguement that won't be solved today. Mrs. Pacman is better (to me) than Halo, but which would win the GOTW if put up here today? Like Les Claypool said, "It's just a matter of opinion".

Sorry Jerry, congratulations! Didn't mean to sound THAT bad.
Anyways though, am I not entitled to my own opinion?
And am I not allowed to express that opinion?
And if you answered "yes you are" to the above I ask you, where am I supposed to post my comment on this week's GOTW-comments section? Is it the fact that I motivated my opinion that bothers you? Or is it just that you don't agree?

No, it's not that. I've had those same thoughts before about the GOTW winner it just took me awhile to learn to keep it on the down low or risk gettin' barbequed up here. These waters can be unforgiving to the little fish, you know.

And no, this isn't the most "n00b friendly" place around at all. During my six-seven years of lurking around the different communities I've seen quite a few newcomers leave because of that.

GOTW is not anything special.

. There's no need to get excited when one has won and the others has not won.

. The most important thing is how many people have enjoyed playing your games

I do believe GOTW is special in the sense that newcomers to the community will after a week or two realize what GOTW is, and after that, in search of the GOOD click-games, browse the GOTW section in search of the cream of the cra...crop. And it is THEREFORE important, if you wish to welcome newcomers in to the world of click, that the games which stand out from the rest by being good, playable and fun, earn a place in the GOTW-section.
That, or let the Admins "mark" certain games that meet certain criterias, for example "[insert good game] is marked with [insert admin]'s seal of approval for being [insert something]". That's an idea.

I took a break from TDC for a couple of months a while back, and the first thing I did to catch up on the latest and best click games was to browse the GOTW section and ditching the other, like, 10 000 games that had been submitted during that time period. Anyways, I think I've made my point one, two, three, four times now.
