The Daily Click Christmas Competition 2007
News posted 24th November, 2007 by The Chris Street
PRIZES:

1st Place: MMF2 Developer
2nd Place: A copy of "Make Amazing Games In Minutes" OR "A Power Users Guide To Game Creation" written by Jason Darby
3rd Place: A copy of "Make Amazing Games In Minutes" OR "A Power Users Guide To Game Creation" written by Jason Darby

Many thanks to Clickteam for generously donating these wonderful prizes!

RULES:

1. The theme for this competition is simply "Winter". Interpret that in anyway you will.

2. You can work alone or as part of a group. However, if you work in a group and your game wins, you need to decide who will keep the prize as there's only one copy.

3. Maximum compressed file size must not exceed 30MB, and must contain the SOURCE file, any extentions and DLLs, and the EXE file.

4. We are unable to host game files - unfortunately you'll have to find a way to host them yourselves.

5. A select, unconfirmed group of Administrators and Editors will judge the competition.

6. Closing date for the competition will be at 11PM on SUNDAY 23RD DECEMBER - just under a month. Any late entries will not be accepted.

7. You may submit your entry and update/modify it as many times as you like prior to the closing deadline - we will not download any entries until the deadline has passed.

8. ONE entry per person/group.

9. The judges decision is final.

10. Clickteam will have no direct control or influence over the competition, and no TDC administrator or editor is permitted to enter.

11. No nagging the judges as to when the results will be published. Yes, last year was a total cock-up but we don't plan on making the same mistakes again.

12. Entries should be sent via PM to myself containing the game name, download URL and the real name and address of the person recieving the prize.

JUDGING CRITERIA:

Graphics: (out of 25) Quite simply, how good does your game look?
Audio: (out of 10) How well does the game utilise sound effects and music? Are there any sound effects or music?
Winter Theme: (out of 20) Does the game make full use of the competition theme? Having a simple white background with random sprites does NOT necessarily demonstrate this... only laziness!
Gameplay: (out of 25) How fun is the game to play?
Programming: (out of 20) How well programmed is the game? Are there any bugs?

All this comes to a grand total of 100 POINTS. Each judge will give their verdict, and their combined score will be the games TOTAL SCORE.

I guess that's it... if you want to win the prize, your time starts now! Unless of course, you have already started.

A website will soon be up, in the meantime please visit the competition forums HERE!

Cool

I don't wanna sound harsh or anything but is it possible to have uh, a better team of judges this time? Like people that actually know something about gfx or gameplay?

I thought we had a good team of judges last year. At the end of the day its down to their personal opinion of the game, I can't tell them that their opinion is wrong

Posted by Ski 24th November, 2007

I agree with you there Hayo, it's not fair.

"10. Clickteam will have no direct control or influence over the competition, and no TDC administrator or editor is permitted to enter."

Unless they refuse to hand over the prizes

Posted by Dr. James MD 24th November, 2007

I'd enter if I could find the time.

Posted by Hernan 24th November, 2007

Just "winter"? Was hoping for a less broad theme actually

Posted by AS Filipowski 24th November, 2007

I always end up near the bottom, so I'm not going to bother this year. Good luck to all who enter.

Posted by The Chris Street 24th November, 2007

Well we thought it'd be a good idea to have a less specific theme this time, that way there are fewer limitations and fewer excuses not to enter

Winter theme is cool, good luck!

Posted by Dr. James MD 24th November, 2007

If we're having a Winter theme can we have a Summer one too? Make some beautiful themed games

Not entering this time, just a waste of time, my crap could never win.

But yeah, good luck to all who will enter.

Not entering this time.

I want to compete, but I already have a copy of MMF2 developer. If I win (i'm not saying i will), would it be alright if someone else claimed my mmf2, like the runner up perhaps?

Posted by Pixelthief 24th November, 2007

I'll have fun being disqualified, another year.

Posted by viva/volt 25th November, 2007

I'm entering , well so far I am anyway

Posted by Fadex 25th November, 2007

I think I'll enter. Good luck to everyone

Posted by Hernan 25th November, 2007

Hmmm, the theme doesn't seem to tickle my brain like last year. So I'm not entering either. Good luck to everyone who does!

Superfunkaclaus: Yes, that's perfectly acceptable, you can donate the prize to whoever you want - if you win it!

Posted by Bibin 25th November, 2007

Now who wants to host Bibin's game, ~7 MB once I start it?

Posted by Green Gnome 25th November, 2007

I wish there were descriptions of the books.

Posted by Guru Rinpoche 26th November, 2007

It'd be better if this was due after Christmas, so I'd have some free time.

Posted by Bibin 26th November, 2007

Seconded. January first!

"Make amazing games in minutes" is all about TGF 2 and it's power. MMF, TGF and MMF 2 users can find something interesting too. Book has about 350 pages, and includes CD with example games, pictures, and TGF 2 demo. I haven't got another one, so I can't tell anything about this.

"No nagging the judges as to when the results will be published."
Well there's a stupid fucking rule. How exactly do you intend to enforce that against the 99% of members who won't be entering?

Posted by alastair john jack 10th December, 2007

I believe that Radix poses us with a logical question.
