It's a good day to klik
News posted 31st July, 2008 by Muz
Wow, here's a major news update.

First of all, The Spirit Engine 2 is out! It's no longer a freeware game, but that means that it's all the better, with a new engine, new graphics, and a professional soundtrack. For those of you who loved the original, you could try the demo for The Spirit Engine 2 and even buy the full version if you like it enough.

Also, Eegra has finally finished judging the First Annual Game Makin' Shindig. What's that? Why it's an indie game-making competition with over $2750 in prizes! Why should the obsessive kliker care? Because rumor has it that 2 klikers joined the fray! One of them sucked and got last place or something, but the other one apparently did very well. Go to the Shindig announcement page for the full details and downloadable games.

On a somewhat less epic scale, TDC has two new games: Chaos Wave and Gunfighter. Both good games, but the new games out there shine too brightly. You can vote for them for next week's GOTW!

Looks cool, but if it was freeware it would be better. J_J lol muz "One of them sucked and got last place or something".

I downloaded the "TSE2" and lasted 5 minutes before shutting it.I won't deny it's well made, beautiful graphics, but nothing makes me want to play on. Was also amazed how much the world map music reminded me of Final Fantasy, lol.

Mark Pay is the man, and anyone who says 2-3 years of hard work should go free is a jerk

I wonder how long Cave story took to make... >_>

5 years

Pwned then. <_< Don't call me a jerk Dustin.

Well, I believe the reason for not making it freeware was because it was way to time consuming to develop it, and you know, time is moneys! There wouldn't have been a TSE2 if they didn't charge money for it. At least not in 2.5 years. But don't get me wrong though, I believe in freeware and donations!

Either they did it on purpose or music was blatantly stolen

Bought it and I'm at the seventh chapter I think. It's been really challenging and fun so far. The combat is tactical and requires a lot of thought and attention. It's very dialogue-heavy, but the exposition makes it feel like there's a huge world beyond the scenery.

It'll still be free, just not on Wiiware. Wonder if it's the same guys who were supposed to make that commercial PSP version.
won't buy it if it's real. Already played it on PC and PSP.

Whoa Cecil! I didn't even read that link properly. Still I've got the Windows and translated OSX version backed up on my server just in case

I hope they add to it or make some "remix". Cave Story's great and all but it could do some changes all these years later.

Though I haven't heard the in-game music, Adam, that FF "prelude" is just a scale exercise. An otherwise knowledgeable musician would agree about its simplicity and the added chance of it bearing resemblance to any other scale exercise ever done.

Yeah, because we're all musicians playing the game? We're not, and it's what most people will think.

I remember playing TSE 1 and just couldn't continue playing it past the first cave boss thing. Looks perdy though.

Oh, and Codemonkey, cool avatar.

TSE 1 was pretty easy. Just have to get a good group. Lol, I made an ultra-powered group by figuring out the best overall skills using a TI-83
