More Deadlines!
News posted 17th May, 2009 by OMC
It is le sad. :( Only 5 people are confirmed as coming to the 2009 Click Convention this year in Warsaw, Poland. There are only two weeks left for you to sign up, and if you can make it to Poland, you should really go! It will be a whole 2 days of fun and you'll get to meet other clickers, among them Francois!

Update from Fanotherpg: "OK so because of so small number of applications I decided to change a bit application structure. Now you only have to sent me an email that you agree to participate, give your nick, mobile phone number and pay an entrance fee - and if you don't have money for it you can ask Random for help."

OMC two small mistakes - it would be 2 days convention 25th-26th of July from 27th it would be Polish Convention and like for now 5 people are coming - Popcorn is 5th one

Oh, so you changed the schedule? I don't understand what you mean by the 27th would be a Polish Convention...

Posted by Rob Rule 17th May, 2009

The 27th is reserved for Polish speakers while the first two days of the convention are international.

Posted by Fanotherpg 17th May, 2009

Since 27th it would be convention where most of people would be Polish, so they will use Polish Language - and since topic started the schedule changed few times and this is why all information are at official Click Convention 09 website

Now does everything match up Fanotherpg?

I don't know the polite way of saying it, but the venue looks like a poo hole.

Posted by Fanotherpg 17th May, 2009

Yeap OMC it match up. ~Matt Esch~ it's specific place which have got very good climate.

therpg, if you don't get any more attendees, will the convention still happen? Do you have more applicants from within Poland?

Posted by Fanotherpg 17th May, 2009

We want to have a list of participants until first of June so we could reserve rooms, so if the international clickers won't come we will took some Polish ones, so we would have about 20 conventioners.

But I hope that more people will join in the closest weeks. But probably the people who are interested will also come (Jeff, DT, Dr. James, Steve Harris etc). Unfortunately like we know this crisis is very hard for any trips etc so it is one of the reasons of this lack of people.

Also, I don't know about Europe, but here in America it's more outlandish for young students to travel to another country by themselves. And most of TDCers fall in that young student range.

We're outlandish?!

Thats it I'm going to start an admin vendetta too, scorn!

Posted by OMC 17th May, 2009

Say what? O_o I said it was outlandish for an American student (as in young teens) to travel to another country by himself. Late teens and early 20's... different story, but still unusual.

I never said anyone was outlandish. O_o

I don't get it, why is the convention located in Poland ?

Posted by Dr. James MD 17th May, 2009

Don't worry I was only razzing you, I'm not going to start an admin vendetta!

Because Poland is fantastic even if they do bugger up hotdogs. Also there's a bunch of Polish clickers.

Posted by OMC 17th May, 2009

Thought so.

Posted by Fanotherpg 17th May, 2009

Because we proposed to organize it this year, Johnny Look.

In previous years it was mostly held in England and one time in France, but maybe this convention will inspire some USA clickers to organize North America convention?

I'm not doubting poland is a wonderful country, but it's way too far geographically from most clickers epicenters so to speak.

Posted by Dr. James MD 17th May, 2009

It is, but it's also quite cheap to fly to. I think my ticket to Poland last year was only £50.

Posted by Muz 18th May, 2009

Lol, it's a Click Party now, not a convention.

Most clickers don't have money (or permission) to go far though.

Posted by Fanotherpg 18th May, 2009

Johnny, Poland is almost in the same localisation like France or England, so if Convention would be held there you also would say that it's too far.

Posted by Muz 18th May, 2009

Maybe people are afraid to go because they can't speak Polish?

Also, the community's shrunk a little since then, we used to have all sorts of people, but the new clickers seem a lot younger.

Posted by Fanotherpg 18th May, 2009

Muz about language, it wouldn't be a problem I ask people for their mobile phones etc so I could take them from the airport, railway station or tell them how to reach destination place without problem so language won't be a problem, because I'm Polish

And about age - it's main problem. Nowadays most of clickers are very young so they don't have work and with no work, no money for such trip and probably no parents agreement - but if they like they can come with parents, Warsaw is a beautiful city which is worth of visiting. And that who have been clicking in old days currently have got families etc and can't come because of that or work.

If I had money to blow and my family and I didn't have jobs and school, I'd love to come visit Poland.
