Competition: Submition Form Available
News posted 28th June, 2002 by ShadowCaster
The submission form for the competition is now available for individuals. Sorry this it taking so long to get up, I've been waiting for the president of the Computer Science Undergraduates Society (CSUS) to get my webspace setup on the uni server for uploading games to, but I've been waiting about 2 months for him, and I've given up. I'll post a news article again once the group submissions form is available, however it might not be for a while because I'm in the middle of exams.

Oh yeah, because I dont have space to upload games to (/me gives Chris from CSUS an evil stare) you will need to upload your game manually. It doesnt matter if you simply register space at a dodgy place (such as Geocities) which has ads, you can remove it after the competition has been judged. ~Mike

I was reading the rules and it said the game must be the source code, you can't protect it. Doesn't this mean everyone will be able to edit it and steal from it?!? I really don't like that idea, I'm not sure i still want to enter...

I believe too, that having the source code open is unnecessary!

this contest is sponsored by clickteam, the reason behind this (I think), like every other CT sponsored contest, is to get examples and stuff to use to include in MMF...

Jay: If it were so I would be happy if one of my games became an example.

I am NOT releasing the open source to my projects

Open source? You have to be joking. If your judging a game you don't need to see its code.

Perhaps there should be two versions. One for the public, and one(not protected) for clickteam? But you'd still have the problem that people are going to get their hands on it.

We're not going to release your games on DC open source or anything. We're not going to release them at all -- they're going straight to Clickteam.

do YOU still get to release your own game binaries to the public however you want?

Posted by Nobuyuki 29th June, 2002

when i say you, I mean ourselves.

Posted by ShadowCaster 29th June, 2002

Yeah, the game still remains yours. The only thing that changes is that CT can distribute it also.

BIG FLIPPIN DEAL WHO SEES YOUR CODE! They could figure it out anyway, HAH! It's not like the code takes millions of years to do in the CT products, geese. You people will find anything to whine about as long as it is something. If I whine, I have a good reason behind it...

I have some news for you all on the issue of the distribution of source code. But for now, I need to go to bed as I have to be up at 5:00am to get to my exam on time. You can all hold out one more day, cant you? :) ~Mike
