All right, with a bit more discussion than the last time, people seem to have agreed on what style of game we are going to make. Said style is:
Leisurely pace-one can move through at a moderate pace if they want, but if they feel like taking it slowly, the plot won't be so restricting as to force them to continue. You should be able to avoid battles if you want to. A hub world leading to other worlds, may or may not be a map, and you can get to other worlds through the hub or by following a path from one world to the next (interconnected worlds). Steampunk style, but with cute, fun, colorful, vibrant colors to contrast the deep, grim, complex plot. Multiple playable characters with similar stats and controls but upgradeable and specific abilities, either upgrade through experience points or bosses. Build the game in such a way that people with any click product will be able to make levels and worlds.
People seem to be okay with this so far, and if you aren't and you haven't been posting, shame on you! However, you can still go ahead and voice your opinion. If you don't, or everyone is still okay with this, then it is time for the next part of the project: actual work!
Our first concern will be programming. I have started two new threads, one for people to discuss the programming decisions and engine, and the other for coders to audition their skills in the hopes of becoming the Lead Programmer. What are the responsibilities of the Lead Programmer, you ask?
The Lead Programmer is the person who will be heading up all programming concerns and decisions. Not only will this person do the majority of the planning and coding, but they will also heed the advice and input of the community as to how to design the engine, what it should accommodate, and so on. The Lead Programmer may select one Assistant Programmer, and both people will become formal members of this project. This is not to say that no one else can work on programming, but that these two people will be in the Project Members list on the heading at the top of the project page. The Lead Programmer may also be required to make tutorials to teach others how to code certain things in TGF or MMF, so that everyone will be able to help.
So go into the public forums and find either of the two new threads (Programming and Features or Programming Auditions) and discuss, submit, and critique. Remember that this will be made in click products, and that some people don't have MMF or MMF2. Graphics discussion will likely begin later in the week, then sound and story discussion. Yay! Progress is good!
