Just finished making the death-system and it's pretty rad! The game is supposed to be difficult and you will probably die a lot, so to avoid it being frustrating I decided to make a death-system that never takes you out of the game. It's pretty simple; all it does is that when you die you turn into a ghost and the game carries this ghost back to your last checkpoint where you respawn. Any enemy that you have killed will remain dead, but the rest regains their health and you yourself will loose one of your Attack Up potions and one of you Defense up potions (you can carry five of each). You will regain 90% of your health, but loose a substantial amount of your score. Also, to make you remember where you did something wrong a mark will be left where you died! What kind of mark will depend on how it happened, so if you see a lot of Ninja Angels flying over a bottomless pit you should probably be more careful that time around
So yeah, even though it's a simple idea with a simple execution I'm very satisfied with the results! One of the main problems with a lot of Klik-games is (in my opinion) that they are too old-school in their design and thus WAY too frustrating. Any thoughts on the subject or comment on this system is as always much appreciated!
Oh, and I'm still working on that demo!
