Some graphical changes
Posted 5th Aug 09, by GamesterXIII
The current platform graphics are undergoing a stylistic overhaul. The old graphics were created by me before the plans to make this game so Jason came up with some new ones in a different style.

They are obviously unfinished, but we are progressing. The engine is also being reworked from scratch for optimization reasons. Moving platforms and the flying bird have been removed until the more important aspects of the engine, such as fighting, are finished or at least started.

I must say, the main character looks far too big for that resolution. He takes up too much space and limits the view of the player. That may make it difficult in hectic situations.

Hmm, Smirnoff has a point if that is the whole screen size. Apart from that, i prefere the new style

Hey guys, thanks a bunch for the comments.

We are planning on using a higher resolution (320x240) so we should be fine, but will definitely take that into consideration if problems arise. Currently the camera pans as soon as you start moving so you have most of the screen in front of you as you are moving. When we get some enemies added in we will play around with it a bit to see if we need to change it or not.

thanks again =]

I think a nice middle ground between 320x240 and 640x480 would be good with a character that size. I still have nightmares of playing Rayman on the GBA.

I love the harsh highlights though and that you haven't used the MMF palette. Props!

People actually use the mmf palette?

I think we're gonna try 320x240 first and go from there. The camera pans pretty nicely.
