You guies said the game needed more colors, so here it is:
Personally I'm still unsure if it looks better or not, a part of me says it looks a lot better but at the same I liked the other style quite a lot, so the final decision will be yours, colors or not ?
Colored game will be more attractive for common players, black-n-white variant will look like an arthouse project... so, if you want to help TDC with this game - make it colored for future better selling.
(also, colored sprites you can easy desaturate, but grayscale ones - not at all).
great mood. I like it a lot. My opinion: maybe you can do both: b & w and colored, you just have to find a way to explain it. Playing in an old movie (b&w), then there is colored tv (color) etc etc.... whatever you find. I like both things but if i would have to decide...it would be black and white. Itīs a tough decission i know.
thanks everyone for your opinions !
So far most people like both, with marko slightly inclined towards the color version, and jot inclined towards the black and white version, so we have a draw.
Andy: mmh what object are talking about, the ground tiles ? Thanks for your honesty btw.
Alexey: I think that's quite a question, in one side, like you said, most people are afraid to spend their money in something that looks or plays differently and would probably prefer the colors version, but in the other side, the game needs to stand out somehow, and most of the time people download demos based on a few screenshots, and if the game looks like any other one people are more likely to ignore it.
jot: Very good idea, it's surely think about it. The only problem I see so far is that I would need 2 versions of each tileset, but well that's not a big problem.
