There's no need to worry about being stuck to a project. Don't feel like you have to commit yourself to this.
If anyone wants to donate scribbled/doodled sprites to this project but doesn't want to be a member, that's perfectly fine.
That's why all the art sections are in the Public Forum. So anyone can access it.
The only things you'd need to be a member for is if you wanted to contribute to the development of the story, and that won't come til later.
We need enough sketchy/scribbled/doodled/quickly drawn/rough-edged sprites to complete the game first off.
You don't have to be an artist, and there is no commitment. A few scrappy sprites here an there from everyone is all we'd need.
The most important thing is to get some backgrounds put together, then everything else will fall into place quite easily.
It's a simple plan with a good goal to aim for, so it will certainly be a success. All that's needed is a few non-smoothed sprites from you folks. It only takes a few minutes to doodle some stuff together, so if alot of people scribble up some stuff, it'll be done in no time.
