Okay, I sort of heard a music track that I really liked on a YouTube vid, but I didn't know the name of it. At first, I only wanted it so I could listen to it. After some searching, I found out that it was called "Stomp to my Beat"... and also found out it was from Dance Dance Revolution.
I think, at that point, I sort of had a brainwave.
And after a couple days' work... this was the result:
That's right... it's the DDR Boost Super Special Module! When equipped in the I-Mall, it adds the DDR powerup into the mix. When you pick it up, your Miss Counter gets frozen at zero, you can't break your combo, and serious ownage can occur if you can hit the steps well.
Few things to sort out, such as making the notes disappear in a cooler way, but other than that... I think it's all done.
I also did a multiplayer playtest today with a new beta I produced, managing to get two of my mates to help out. But, since I'm on a student Internet connection, I can't really mess with the router settings, so I can't host servers. And none of my friends know how to forward ports, and/or don't know their router passwords.
I tried using the Klikfarm server, but that failed hideously - it just locked up whenever I tried to join or host a game. I eventually found another public server, and the test went pretty well! I don't think this Internet connection likes recieving blast (UDP) messages, though - I couldn't see anyone else moving around, but they COULD... and I could also recieve their text messages. I'm pretty sure it works... I just can't see it.
*sigh* Ah, well. Maybe I could just set all the messages to send instead of blast while I'm at Uni, and just try to cope with the (possibly) huge lag. Gotta get an eight player game going at some point, too.
I'll be adding some more special modules and stuff soon! Just gotta get some more ideas into my head.
@ Marko - Hehe! I'll see if I get a beta ready soon, so you can give it a try. Still quite big ATM, and got a couple problems with Multiplayer to sort out. I COULD release a single player edition... we'll see.
@ Deshar: It's powerful because it IS pretty difficult to clear the sequence. You only have to miss four steps, and that's it! I've done the sequence about 50 times over for testing, so I'll make it look easy.
You've also gotta unlock it and buy it in the Mall beforehand, and then collect it ingame, so it's hard to get, too.
It earns so many points because the Failien Overlord will probably wonder WTF the noise is all about, and you'll attract more attention.
