Sure, this is with four screens on one computer, but we tested it a few times online, and we all finished in the right places every time. A bit painful to recode, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be.
I couldn't see anyone moving when trying with others online, but messages came through and stuff, and we were still able to see which players came in what positions. I still think it's a problem with this connection or the router settings or something, because I haven't changed any code to do with movement sending since I tried it at home, and it worked okay there...
I've also had to change some of the effects from the Flame Object to (admittedly) lame, custom ones, but they still get the point over. I think.
(Pieces of Fruit on the Fruit Bar now spit out loads of fading fruit, to show that they are Ultimate. New, cooler starfield, too. )
I'm hoping the final Build 249 will have support for the Flame Object (cuz that looks SO much better ), so I'm gonna keep that code in the game just in case.
I've been messing with some shaders, too, and I've replaced a couple of the old "Invert" effects with prettiful coloured flashes and stuff:
(Clickin' a button in the I-Mall. )
Still don't understand shaders as much as I'd like to, though. I especially hate trying to figure out what number I need for a specific colour.
But ya, all's good now. I'm gonna get a single player beta ready soon, and then I can start adding stuff again. No idea where I should start first, though... new Challenges, new Super Special Modules, new ships, new Drones, new Achievements... I'm spoilt for choice.
PS: I've noticed that some of my text has gone a bit "weird" in some places:
I'm guessing this is because of the HWA beta... but is there any way to fix this without having to go through EVERY string of text and "guess" where to add spaces and stuff?
Thanks for the idea, but there are quite a lot of paragraphs contained in my string objects... and I think it would be a LOT of work to convert them all to backdrops.
I'm gonna go through them manually at some point - it shouldn't be too painful. I hope.
