Hai all.
Right I'm not sure but I still think it seems a bit amateur this game. So I resprited the main character. However I want opinions if I should use the new sprite (inspired by Gunstar) or my old one (inspired by Gunners Heaven)
The new one kind of looks generic and more rigid. I liked that this game had slightly larger graphics. Everyone makes things so small all the time. Õ_Õ
Though I do like that the smaller one has more clothes.
@OMC: I agree, I like bigger sprites, but it seems to me, still Amateur ish. I really want to make a professional looking game, something maybe I could submit to IGF next year. Also it's going to be a part of my showreel for internship in some work places next year too. Why I need to make it as professional as I can :S Comment edited by [Joel]-[Poobical] on 11/30/2009
I like the new ones better, as alastair said she has more clothes, which (even though I do not condone it) makes her less of a sex object and more of a person that could kick your ass. :/ Its like Samus, they just HAD to add in Zero Suit because you know sex does sell.
Just add the clothes to the old model in my opinion. Just because every other indie game has small characters and simple lighting doesn't mean you should.
The newer looks more organic, the older stiffer and boxier. However the size is nice for the older sprite as mentioned by OMC there's a lot of tiny sprites around and it's nice to play a character which is of a decent size, also considering the higher resolutions that people use on their monitors more frequently.
Why not redo the sprite again with the same size as the old one, but keeping the stance of the new one? The hair on the old one looks better to me, so do something similar to that.
I think I shall OMC, thanks so much you guys for your advice. It's really helped. I'll update as soon as I've finished the new and improved sprite. I guess I'll do that in my lectures tomorrow =
