Violet Vivienne finished the first of an extremely long list of vector graphics for BT:TBHL. This first image is of course of our favorite A.I.D.S. fighter, Derek. Specifically it's from the shot in the film where Derek has just watched Barry shoot the first alien, and is somewhat overcome with blood lust. Violet is currently working on an alternate version of this frame leaning toward a more cartoony style.
In other news, I coded up frameworks for the cut-scenes, menu, and platform sections of the game. The cut-scenes will be very reminiscent of those in Ninja Gaiden, though with graphics closer to the 16 bit style seen in SNES games. The platform movement engine is coming along nicely. It's fairly simple with only walking and running, inclines, jumping, double jumping, and shooting, along with multiple weapons (four per character). The graphics in the platform code is all placeholders right now so I haven't uploaded any pics of it, though if anyone is interested I can do so. I did pixel out some images of some of the weapons in the game which you can see below.
Travis Touchdown is currently working on Bad Taste inspired midi for the game. He and I decided that for several reasons midi would be a better idea than WAV or MP3 files. Firstly and most importantly in my opinion is the fact that with midi we can loop music endlessly without breaks which lends itself much better to games where we're not sure exactly how long a level may take to complete. Secondly is of course the file size issues that MP3s and WAV files bring. Travis is a wonderful musician and it was pretty cool the other night when he started playing the Bad Taste theme on his guitar!
Anyway, back to work. I'll see you in a few days with some info about the people involved in this project, Travis Touchdown, Violet Vivienne, and myself, Pariah Leviticus, as well as a first look at the project outline for BAD TASTE:THE BASTARDS HAVE LANDED!
See you then.
