Sonic Chaos Planet is a fan-made Sonic the Hedgehog game. Its gameplay very closely resembles the official game "Sonic 3".

The story goes as follows:

"Dr. Eggman has finally discovered the perfect method to cause chaos across the planet. His project, Operation Chaos Planet, would break the planet into two layers and create a force between them so anything attempting to cross would be destroyed. He has also figured out how to create a clone of Sonic that would be so powerful nothing could defeat it. Now, he waits for Sonic.

Sonic, flying over the jungle, notices Eggman's base. He jumps down to the base and proceeds to break in. He thinks Eggman will be defeated easily, but he is wrong..."

This is a demo, and only includes the first level. I hope you enjoy it!

(update: hey, for anyone seeing this uber-late, it obviously did not get finished-- don't get your hopes up. Yeah, and the link and screens are dead, too)

Wow, this is impressive. Why has hardly anyone downloaded this? Great engine!

Hmm...I wont talk about the story much as I tend to skip them, but what I will say is that it's odd Robotnik should respond to an order from his assistant. In fact...you should have called the little guy 'mini-me' =P. It would have been funnier than Igor (and less cliched). Anyway, moving on to the playable part...the engine is good, defintiely, though that's no surprise as it's mostly Damizean's engine. There's only the odd suspect thing like being able to gain speed while running upside down. However, the level itself is empty. There's very little here other than some rings and the odd badnik. Worse still...I might be mistaken, but some of the level design even looks *very* familiar from one of Damizean's engines over at SFGHQ. It's Sonic, sure, but it isn't very fun when you have an empty level. The best thing here is probably the music. The rest could use quite a bit of work, methinks. It's still early in development, so there's lots of time for that...

I figured he was just showing off the engine, but the level design does need some major work. Make more different paths to take. And I think you can gain speed running upsidedown in Sonic.

Now what's the deal with DR. Egghead and DR. Robotnic? Are they the same person or what?

Posted by Retired Kliker Lazarus 2nd July, 2005

EDIT: DR.Eggman

"And I think you can gain speed running upsidedown in Sonic. " i was going to say that, you definately can gain speed whilst upside down. I did it all the time in Mushroom hill zone.

Lazarus: Eggman was Dr Robotnik's Japanese name, and on the Dreamcast and above his name was changed to stay in line with Japan.

But he refers to himself as dr. robotnik, yet names almost all his creations something with egg, like death egg or egg carrier. My guess is the Robotnik is his family name, and eggman is his nickname.

The demo seems to be like sonic advance 2 where speed is chosen over gameplay. You just spindash until you stop the do it again. Dr.robotnik seems to be Dr.Eggman in the western world since the new style from Sonic adventure onwards. But some crazy fanboys think japan is always right so his real name was always Eggman officially. Not so.

Just as a response to all the level complaints: I had to make this myself, cause my level designer had final exams at school to work on and wasn't available. I stink at designing levels, so I left a lot of the stuff alone and did an awful job (despite my efforts). Anyways, the game just recently went under some changes that make this demo show basically nothing of the final game. Expect the final release to be a lot more fun.

Tip:Only put in things from the origanal Sonic so that it can look real.

yeah, people love 100 percent ripped graphics.

I honestly get tired of the graphics from the games. It seems like every Sonic fan game uses them.

I was being sarcastic. original graphics are always a good thing unless they're awful. These graphics ive seen are great although i did see some angel island in there.

This is a great game! I could definitely see this one having a fighting chance in SAGE. ^^

Well, it was in SAGE, but I don't think it was noticed.

Nice to see somebody actually making something out of the newer, more clever Sonic engines which are popping up.

...I just wish people would stop trying to make it look like they invented it themselves.

I still think these engines are too sticky sometimes though, he can run up walls and things a little too easily. I've been working on it a little, I'll put up my modified version when I've done a game with it.
