Rocketron Version 1.9.420
This is a game that I've been working on for quite a while now, it has a fairly simple concept, inspired by games like quake and TFC where people use rocketjumping and other trick jumps.

Basically you are a blue man with a rocketlauncher and you have to touch the green things at the end of the level. There are lots of gaps and stuff that you have to jump over. You have a special power, you cannot be exploded, so you use your rocket launcher to jump over gaps and win the level.

OK, here is the controversial part. The game is buggy. This is on purpose. Exploiting the bugs in the game allows you to do incredible things, like float in mid air, move through walls, jump off walls, and do some sick insane jumps.

The game is ugly I will give you that, and it has a steep learning curve (probably mostly due to the way you cant shoot rockets vertically down). However this version comes with a vastly better tutorial, and in game chat so you can ask questions.

This game has A LOT of unlockable stuff, it would take someone a long time to unlock everything in this game. When you complete the game, you double the amount of levels you can play.

The game now has a level editor if you want to make your own levels.

One more thing I must say is that this game is worse at the start, and it gets much better past the first few levels. Unfortunately this means many people will only play it for about 2 minutes. Try to give it a chance, and remember level 1 is the least intresting and probably the worst level in the game.

www.myspace.com/rocketron1337 is our "website" although most of the idiots on myspace assume we are a band...

I hope you like it although, as I said its ugly and I know that most of you guys dont like ugly games so much, be sympathetic I made most of it in TGF and TGF's editor is a bit horrible, some of the newer stuff (like the new bosses) look good.

There is a preview video I made of the game here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8978275791039724040

Hope to see you in Rocketron Chat - peace out.

I think you need to try and improve on the presentation of your games.

At tdc we don't judge bad games, circy. That's the tdc spirit.

Posted by Rocketron 22nd December, 2006

did you not even play it?

visuo-facism ¬_¬

No, its constructive critisism. I don't recall insulting you, ie, you can't sprite for shit, did I?

Posted by Rocketron 22nd December, 2006

lol ok sorry i thought you were insulting me. I do know what you mean and yeah you're right, but when i started making this game I didnt realise how big it would become and i never thought i would be trying to make people play it, and by that stage it had loads of levels and i couldnt be arsed to do go back and change the way everything looked.

I will try to make the sequel look better.

Instead of being lazy and leaving the glitches in the game, you should've learned to make an engine with those special features.

never use myspace as a team website.

"Instead of being lazy and leaving the glitches in the game, you should've learned to make an engine with those special features."

Defeats the whole spirit of the game, you've obviously never seen any of those incredible things that pro players do with starcraft, floating units over gaps and down cliffs, breaking wallins by placing spider mines correctly, this was one of the themes of the game. If you could simply jump off walls and jump though walls it would not be as good.

As for the myspace stuff, yeah myspace sucks balls but its funny we have made enemies with this twat on there because i posted a huge DOWNLOAD link in his comment box and he deleted it then we fucking made a song about him and made a joke webcomic which pissed him off, some of the messages hes sent us are gold. If you think I'm being harsh just look at his page he likes blink 182 and other equally terrible bands and he got a tattoo when he was 15.

I think you guys and I have a difference of opinion on what click games should be about, and I anticipated that this game wouldn't be well reguarded - although in my opinion its >>> that most of the games on here.

I think it looks quite original.

Well, w00t for that. Those Koreans are insane!

Actually it's not all that hard to do. Can you do 26 tricks?

Posted by Rocketron 26th December, 2006

yeah, but its still very cool especially when they use it in a game situation.
Anyway, the exploitation of bugs in games like quake and starcraft is what made me not want to fix the bugs in the movement. and basically make the movement crap on purpose.

Starcraft wouldnt be the same if it wasnt rediculous like that, neither would this.

ps www.quotecats.com if you dont like myspace

Ugh.
Those exploits shouldn't be in Quake and Starcraft, those are mistakes by the developer.
You however put the exploits there on purpose. That's what I call bad.

Thumbs down.

sorry but that is very funny

Here's something for you to laugh about, the platform movement is timer based. know what that means? It means PC's which are crap can't even play your crap game! But seriously, it looks like a nice idea. It's just that progress is impossible because the vertical movement is retarded to the point of uselessness, and the keyboard:response ratio is exponential to the time you hold down the key.

Inotherwords, 'nice try' try again. I can't play it.

I like the look of this. The interesting thing I always think about click games, is that the more 'polished' you make them the less character they have - but the more glitches and bits that don't quite work like a commercial game , are so much more refreshing.

Must stop ranting.
