It's the basic engine for a Flight Simulator.
Just real-time 3d: it uses both the standar 3d Object and the Mode 7 extention by Cellosoft.
I wanna show that even the old Multimedia Fusion is good enough for simple 3d programs.
I did myself all the graphics (texture, 3d objects, toon) and code.
Let me know what you think about it.

Controls:

a) inside the room.

1) "left" arrow to rotate Counterclockwise.
2) "right" arrow to rotate Clockwise.
3) "shift", "ctrl", "space", "up" in front of an active object
(in this version just the door) to activate it.
4) "Esc" to quit the demo.

b) inside the plane.

1) "left" arrow to rotate Counterclockwise.
2) "right" arrow to rotate Clockwise.
3) "up" arrow to go down.
4) "down" arrow to go up.
5) "Esc" to get back to the room.

Made by Claudio Mondello (Italy) with MMF 1.5 Pro

NOTE: if you experience some problem with the x allign of the screen just delete the Cncs232.dll inside the "Wings" folder.

yay, too bad i cant use it

Posted by Tropik 20th September, 2007

Thats no bad, beacuse you must add new obiect to game...

Ok engine I suppose, the room is nice, shame you cant walk freely and the plane physics arn't right, it should lean and stuff.

Posted by alastair john jack 20th September, 2007

but the mode7 creators didn't put enough work into it to do leaning.

Posted by DaVince 20th September, 2007

Not bad, but I liked the other OpenGL object examples better. Not being able to really move around that room was annoying, too.

Hasn't MMF support Irrlicht or something? .. I'm waiting to see something a little spectacular with that combo..

Posted by -Liam- 20th September, 2007

Nice.

Hit up repeatedly while in the cockpit and it looks like the guy is jerking off.

Posted by Fanotherpg 20th September, 2007

I only see white screen nothing more

Posted by The Chris Street 20th September, 2007

Irrlicht for MMF2 isn't being worked on anymore.

¨then she turned to me and saaaaid, walking on the moooooon¨

Posted by Hayo 20th September, 2007

I have the white screen bug as well.

Posted by markno2 20th September, 2007

I have that as well but was able to view it from the source. BTW: NAM rulz!!!!!

Posted by DaVince 20th September, 2007

Didn't you know that Irrlicht was abandoned, Tim?

Posted by Aptennap 20th September, 2007

Great job!

Posted by Dr. James MD 20th September, 2007

it works but it's a very basic application of Mode7, that room scene was impressive though. I wouldn't know how to code that. But the flying was very very basic.

Posted by Klikmaster 20th September, 2007

Hmm, maybe I should look into creating this Irrlicht object...

Posted by 20th September, 2007

I agree with Markno2! NAM rules! and u should make a NAM like game or something with graphics like those when u'r in the plane!

I don’t know how to answer to those of you who experienced the “white screen” problem (and I’m sorry since I wish I had the Phizzy comment – one of the greatest clicker ever – and of all the others among you that downloaded the demo). I can just think it’s a problem I can solve making an “Install” version but I’ll make it just for the final version.

The purpose of the engine is to show the “3d object” on MMF1 is good enough to make simple 3d programs. It suffers (and the same is for the “mode 7”) of lacking as for tutorials, examples, knowledgment in general and of a quite slow run-time engine.

On the final version I will add too some physics (in the plane section) and some improvements as for the 3d. As for the “mode 7” I had two objectives: the first one was to make the horizon move as going up and the second was to add or reduce details in order to make the vision both clear and smooth.

Thanks to those who tried and will try it.

Note: i'm working on a Nam Golden version with some new backgrounds and moves. Thanks for asking.

? I thought someone picked it back up again?! ;_; ARGH

very nice.funfun

like most other MMF 3D examples: Pretty cool, but nobody could really use it to realistically make a decent 3D game.

Posted by Guru Rinpoche 20th September, 2007

Cool, but yeah, the jerking off comment, quite accurate.

Posted by \/\/olf 20th September, 2007

Didnt notice that before. It does look like that. But good work otherwise nonetheless.

Jerk off...haha

Yeah that was a kewl demo. I gave it a thumbs up.

Enabling DirectX stopped the blank screen bug from occurring for me.

Posted by waffleton 3rd October, 2007

Don't worry Phizzy, you didn't miss anything.

Posted by Disthron 3rd February, 2009

Dam, I get a buy where the screen resolution is out of range. I guess the resolution of the demo is too small. My card won't let me set my display lower than 800x600

Ok, I tryed it on my laptop and got the white screen problem. The screen shots look really good, could you tell us how you did it?
