Pempiatt Adventure is the latest game I have made. I was inspired by the other platformers on this site and wanted to make a scrolling adventure myself. There are different environments and obstacles to overcome as you escort the main character to the Volcano. I made some of the music and drew all of the graphics. There are hidden points in the levels, see if you can find them all!

Play through over 5 levels, each with their own theme and textures, as you overcome evil bees and spikey pits which are intent on your destruction. Collect coins, some of which are hidden by noclip walls, and use the cool checkpoint feature to ensure that you never get stuck again!

Later levels see you having to traverse rivers and lakes via floating logs, which merely adds to the excitement brought on by this game.

I actually like the look of this. The graphics look cute via the screenshots and are, at least, well polished.
I'll download this game and then rate it after a good play through.

The game ran, SUPER slow for me, like 1 FPS...
I dont know what happened but.
I cant rate it until i get to play it.

This is just another uninspired platformer with no redeeming features in my opinion. I could make a game like this in about 3 hours (and have before). What does the gameplay consist of? I mean... seriously. Flying bees? floating logs? WOW!! What an anti climax, too. No Volcano level?

James, you clearly have no talent if you can't make a more original game. Perhaps make this 2 player or something and it'll be worth playing.

hey come on, this is good for someone who has less experience than ..lets say YOU? It has some relatively advanced stuff like the parallax and what i think is a custom platform engine. And good music too! who made that?

if it had been made by someone who has already made lots of games however, then I would expect a lot more .

I also say this one is a great start. There's an overmap, an actual story that links it all together, yes--true parallax scrolling (something I've yet to introduce in my own projects, so I'm clearly still a noob), hidden areas, and some nice artwork. The engine is a bit sticky in some spots, but it's not flat-out bad. The coin-collecting is a nice extra; I hadn't collected all the coins yet, so I may be encouraged to try once again. I also would have preferred a full-screen function.

All in all, the game was rather easy to beat, but still enjoyable. I hope this game maker continues to make bigger and better games in the near future.

One little bug I noticed in my play-through...On the lake level, the second floating log was stuck on the opposite shore the first few times I attempted to make my way across; I originally thought the log was invisible or something. After a few deaths, the log moved as expected, but didn't have the 'traction' effect on it like the other logs in the game.

Keep it up--you'll do great!

@Mr. Tom it uses the built in movement.

Well it's a pretty good start, but you would need to do more to make a platformer stand out amongst the crowd. There is not a lot of variety in the gameplay, but with nothing particularly wrong with it either.

Keep it up

yep, the build in one lol. It get stuck in the platforms.

Not using the platform movement object or a custom engine is a big minus. However it could be a lot worse. At least you didn't rip graphics and stuff.

3kliksphilip, what's with your scathing attack on this guy? It's unacceptable.

If you knew how much of an idiot this guy is in real life you'd understand.

That's not the point, you're supposed to comment on his abilities as a gamemaker, not as a person. If you made a fantastic platformer but I chose to slag it off on the basis that I don't like you, would that be objective of me? Mmm... nope.

you don't give me the impression of being a much better person yourself Philips. I recommend you keep your personal feelings to real life, and stop spewing insults around on the net.

Default font and counter bar. . . icky

It would appear you've only been making games for a few months so this is a good start.

it's a pity that it bugs at the lake level
I like this sort of game, easy to start^^

it seems to be the default platform engine !

what MIDI did you used? I love them : )

I liked this game, especially the music and the level design and graphics. I wasn't especially keen on the poor character animations or the 'sticking' to walls (minor gripes).

However, the best thing about this game is the fact that it is the only game on TDC that makes my stomach jump into my throat when falling off a cliff! Honestly, i've never even seen that happen to me in a commercial 2D game, and not in many 3D games, so what you've done here gives you an extra star in my opinion!

Even though this game appears very simply made and with little experience, you cannot deny that it is fun - and surely that is the most important thing in a game..... well it is for me!

James Luke, can you upload a non-buggy version of the game at the lake level ? It would be great...

2 things...the game is honestly not that good, it's not fun nor original. And it would seem that the default platform engine is used which is garbage.

However, for a beginner, this is decent. The graphics are all original (as far as I know), and it's easy to play. So I rate it 3 stars for being a good attempt, but I can't rate it higher than that.
