This engine shows how to make a 3D looking tower effect similar to Tower Topplers in CNC. Contains a basic engine with debug. It has no documentation, but most of the tutorial is in events 1 and 10.

Debug:
Z: Toggle visibility of tower
Left click: Drag platforms around
Right click: Move player

Requires the Advanced Math extension.

Not a bad effect. Ive seen this used a few times before so it might come in quite useful sometime.

That is pretty neat. If combinted with some nice animation to make it look more 3d it would look amazing!

Thanks, everyone. It's actually a simple formula, involving no more than a simple Sine calculation, so it shouldn't be that hard to understand.

Wow, I had to actually go and find cncs32.dll Haha.

Anyway. Nice effect, especially with the simplicity of how it was made. Maybe if you ever jump up to MMF2, you could use the lens object to add a fish eye to the tower wall itself.

Also, slight suggestion. It might seem slightly smoother and less choppy or messy if the walls came all the way out before they moved up to the front. It might look strange at first, but it would defiantly look better IMHO.

Erm, anyone have any links to the kcamath object? The ones I've found are broken.

Ha! I first saw this effect in Skyblazer for snes. Since then I've been meaning to do something like this and put it in a game but looks like you beat me to it.

I probably would have used 1000 events to get this done though, since "a simple sine calculation" to me might as well be the schematics for a particle accelerator.

^^ If you're using TGF or CNC, try http://www.create-games.com/link.asp?id=1744

Otherwise, I don't know.

^^^ I wish I could, but I can't figure anything out that would work for all platforms.

Neat effect! But the custom engine you made ruined the experience. ;( I agree that you should make the paltforms go all the way out before they come forward. Really cool! This would be something neat to put in NinJoe...

Well, it's really showing off the effect moreso than the engine.

Source code seems to be messy...

At first i was having trouble with knowing what i was looking at, but now i get it. Throw some enemies in there some some gfx and you have a cool platformer level!
Ace!

Could be better but it is very good try.

^^ I've actually been screwing with the engine, and I have an enemy that stands and shoots you. I'm trying to make a game out of it .

Can't Open

Why not? If you're missing the Advanced Math extension, then go download it. I provided a link for TGF users a few comments up.

I hate to sound rude, but it doesn't sound like you tried very hard to open it.
