This is an entry for the Funtition competition at The Daily Click (www.create-games.com)

Starring Clyde, The Pink Space Dinosaur in this short but challenging platform adventure game.

Shift(Fire1) - Shoot
Space(Fire3) - Cloud

If you don't like the controls you can hold CTRL and press Y to change them as you wish!

Okay, I'm done. Enjoy!

It seemed pretty easy to me but perhaps I didn't get very far.
I liked the background art, like a low capability 16 bit machine. the whole game has the feel of an obscure computer game from the early 90's.

I like!

I really wanted to like this, I love the art style (especially those backgrounds!) and once I found the cloud ability I hoped that more exploration and ability gathering would be in the mix to keep it fresh.

However, perhaps it's just me, but the engine felt too floaty and the fact that the enemies were indestructible would be fine if it weren't for the fact that stunning them doesn't last for nearly enough time. On the very first fireball enemy, you can drop down as it goes past and outrun it on the way back, but if you drop over it, your only choice is to shoot it and jump it before it turns around again... but it simply doesn't stay stunned long enough for anything but perfect precision timing. Maybe that's just the level of difficulty you were going for, and maybe the friendly art style has me fooled that it's supposed to be an easier game. Forgive me if this is the case.

Another thing, because you can't kill any enemies, you feel totally outclassed against most of them, in particular that bird in your fourth screenshot that fires extremely fast projectiles directly at you while you're stuck in a firing range trying to perfectly time the spring jump to get past it, which you can't do because not only is it relentlessly patrolling RIGHT where you need to jump, but it fires projectiles that just can't be dodged up close. Not to mention it's completely indestructible and if you do manage to hit it with one of your sideways-only projectiles versus its unforgiving accurate shots, it won't stay stunned nearly long enough to get past without being shot at. Maybe if the cloud ability could stop enemy projectiles too, or something. Maybe if my character moved faster.

Anyway, that's just my opinion and I feel somewhat silly for saying it all considering AndyUK above me said the game was pretty easy but I cannot deny my first impression and I like to think I'm pretty good at platformers.

To sum up: Although well presented and charming, I feel the game's too hard due to undeclared, spaced apart checkpoints, indestructible enemies with unfair attacks, and too much demand for precision and timing for such a slow floaty engine... plus your character only jumps the EXACT distance demanded of him by the distance between some platforms. Not uncommon for a platformer by any means, but feels like just another slap in the face coupled with my other gripes.

AndyUk: Thanks for the kind comment! I had the biggest smile when I read the 90's part.

Rick: Thanks for the constructive feedback!

Yup, it's definitely supposed to be a tough game, I don't use the word 'challenging' for nothing!

But I've made sure it's all fair and square; Everything has a set pattern and all screens can be beaten without a single scratch on Clyde when done right.I've got some tips you can try out if you still feel like playing:

The fireball enemies are very consistent in their movement and very easy to avoid if you do it right. If you happen to be on the "wrong" side of a fireball, simply jump over them when they come charging towards your direction(don't jump at them when they are heading in the same direction as you are). Make sure the fireball is somewhere in the middle of his patrol-path however, if you jump over him when he's about to turn he will get you from behind. There's basically no need to stun them when they are alone. Though stunning them and jumping over them works fine as well, but again make sure they are walking towards were you are currently standing.

The red birds have their set pattern too but it's all down to timing and some patience. So not sure how much I can help you there. I usually jump that spring when the bird has just fired a shot and is on his way to the left, that way you get plenty space to fall through and his next shot will miss. If you want you can also fire your stun-gun on the way up and hit him, freezing him for a while. Like I said though; Requires a bit of patience.

Have you gotten/tried any passwords so far? The first one you find has something that will make the game a bit easier for you I think. If you don't have it yet, I can PM it to you. If you got to the bird you should have passed it already.
