To all of you living in the UK, I wish you all a happy Guy fawkes day. It is that time again, we are celebrating the torture and death upon Guy Fawkes and doing sing-along around the bonfire. And thanking God that the parliament didn’t blow up.
What do you mean Thank God he didn't blow up Parliament, if he did we wouldn't have Tony Blair and his band of wankers letting killers go into prison for like 2 months. And don't forget letting all those illegal immigrants come into our land and ruining Britain.
I fucking hate Bonfire Night. I'm sick of hearing banging and I had to dodge about three fireworks fired by little bastard kids when I was driving home. Kids blowing their hands off on Bonfire Night should be made mandatory.
My stupid fucking state government decided a while ago that fireworks are illegal in NSW. ILLEGAL!!!!! iIf you want fireworks you have to drive like 4 hours to canberra, come back home, call the police, and then IF YOU'RE LUCKY they'll let you use them. But it's approaching bushfire season so there is no chance you'd be allowed.
Cracker night, infact, celebrates the fact that Guy Fawkes was too stupid to keep his bloody mouth shut and such english parliament was not destroyed. Bloody Guido Fawkes ruined it for the rest of us (being a catholic). That was a bit of a joke, as I do not condone terrorism. Not that there was any other way back then.
In my city they BANNED unauthorised bonfires. And the council one is next to the dog/animal shelter. They have also banned sparklers at their bonfire (seriously...), they will issue pretend sparklers (twigs) if you attend an "How to use twigs safely course" - you also get a pair of safety goggles. Well done to the council!
Anyhow, I dont like that people want to ban fireworks. If the police (if we had any) enforced the current laws we would have no problems.
If people treat them with respect there should be no problems. If i try drinking Castrol GTX, i wont be very well.
If only people would treat them with respect. Truth is the majority of kids are little pricks who want to try to crash cars, so fireworks should be banned, or at least children should be.
Too right Trev, the amount of twats in my area, mostly rude "boiz" and pikies just run around setting off fireworks in the middle of the road. Ages ago we walked past a gang of kids taping a fireworks to a car window and setting it off shattering it. Because smashing somebody else's property is so worth it and so funny, I wish they'd get the common sense to realise how pathetic that is or better jump off a tall bridge and die.
Anyway I just came back from a shitty firework display which cost £5 to get in, after arriving and looking at it we just snuck in at the back, not paying a fiver for a couple of bangers and sparklers.
Remeber, remeber the fith of november,
Gunpowder treason and plot.
We see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!
Guy Fawkes, guy, t'was his intent
To blow up king and parliament.
Three score barrles were laid below
To prove old Englnad's overthrow.
By God's mercy he was catche'd
With a darkend latern and burning match
So, holler boys, holler boys, Let the blells ring.
Holler boys, holler boys, God saved the king.
I still dont think they should be banned becuase of a minority of arsewhipes. There's millions upon millions who use them decently, why spoil so many peoples fun?
They have already banned bangers, air bombs, chinese firecrackers (100's of little bangers on a bit of string). Next year we might be lucky to have fountain fireworks.
Tougher enforcement is needed, if the british cant enforce something they just ban it now, rather than employing the police we obviously need.
Any shop seen to sell fireworks to underage people, remove their certificate immediately and permanently. Also maybe shops should ask for proof of age (say like a driving license) and you have to be over 21. I dont think anyone 21 or over is going to get fireworks for people under the age limit.
Why not go to a proper firework display and see some decent ones? That makes more sense to me than a couple of puny rockets and catherine wheels. And don't forget the 'Roman Candle' with its traffic light display!
Chris Branch, when we used to have one we used to spend boat loads on fireworks, we had no puny pathetic fireworks, it was proper show. I personally think a bonfire at home is much better than a big one, you have got your mates and family around, and if you get cold you can go inside , and theres usually free hot dogs, jacket potatoes and CURRY! YAY!
Plus i believe we have the right to celebrate it without going to shoddy state controlled ones without curry.
Sure, it's fine if you've got the money to do that/you've got enough people coming, just don't go sending the rocket into the house and messing up your kitchen. Those burn marks are a right pain to get rid of.
