I was working long and hard on my game Fantasy World 2 - I copy and pasted a group in my events editor then suddenly got this error message. It said something about shortcuts or something (forgot now..) and so I saved my game just to make sure I didn't lose it..

Then when I went back into the events editor - almost all the objects where assigned to an object called "Bad Object 0" which just magically appeared in the editor - and my "player" ship was nowhere to be seen (so I can't make any events involving the player..) - I found this strange and I am worried as it has happened throughout my game.. Here is a screenshot:

You can also see that some objects have also become "Create new objects" which I think is impossible - so a very strange bug.

I desperately need to know if anybody else has had this problem. I am using MMF 1.5 Build 105 - and need to fix the problem as soon as possible. I was going to upgrade to build 117, but I need to find my serial code first. However, I don't think upgrading will solve the problem anyway.

If nobody has a clue, I would be more than happy to send you the .cca file - just to see if it happens in your build too.

Thanks guys

Edit: Seeing as the engine of my game is broken now, I guess it's okay to put the link to my game here. You can check it out at: http://www.flava.viperhosting.net/tdc/fw_engine.cca - open the event editor the see the bug. You'll also see that when you run the game, none of the events are run..

I have to say, that is very, very weird, and I can see no reasonable explanation as to why that's happened. Post this in the Clickteam forums, or, at the very least, send Yves or Francois a mail with the cca included.

The "shortcuts" error message happens when you paste events in to a frame that doesn't have the associated objects - it's the equivalent of TGF creating "bomb" icons to fill the space. It appears that the events in question were pasted in a bit wrongly by MMF, to say the least.

You should upgrade to build 117 before reporting any bugs. There have been hundreds of fixes since build 105, and I know that a more recent patch actually fixed a bad objects bug.

urgh god i get this from time to time. sometimes it just happens out of the blue, like when i Test Level or whatever. it just gives me some junk about bad objects meaning i have to go back to an old backup.

and happens when i save sometimes. usually happens when i give a counter some events... tis rare though. only experienced it about twice this year

Well, now everyone has learnt an important lesson or two, 1) always keep your serials, 2) always update your product as soon as you get it and also whenever updates become available!

Seriously, if someone gave you a 10 digit number to a house, would you just open the door, throw away the serial and leave the door open? Serials are basically what you pay for, why does everyone "lose" them

It's surprisingly easy to lose your serial number in a hard disk crash... er, I mean, throw them away accidentally. *cough*

I've had Bad Objects before in an early build of Zombies Now. It was when I think I maxed out MMF, I had loadsa active objects and whenever I added a new one a whole bunch of objects became bad and a the events associated went bad with them.
