When submitting games to DC, would you please state whether they require Directsound on or not. Most of the time, at least on my computer, sounds won't play properly when directsound is turned on. However, in certain cases (Jonny RPG is one, Mario Forever another) the game will hang if Directsound is not turned on. Thanks!

Uh, sounds like your pc is seriously stuffed up, because all games play sounds fine for me. What do you mean by turning Directsound on and off? Are you adjusting hardware acceleration for sound? If so, you probably need to update your drivers.
I dont.
Anyway, before they add that, they should make it so that its impossable to submit downloads, or previews, without screenshots.
Another good idea would be to add a new drop down menu that asks for 1 of the fallowing:
Full (Free) <Just a normal everyday game.
Full (Shareware)<A demo of an already released game that you need to buy.
Demo <A demo of a prereleased game.
Abandoned Demo <A game that will never be finished
Abandoned Source MMF <A game that will never be finished, but includes the .CCA file.
Abandoned Source KNP/TGF <A game that will never be finished, but includes the .GAM file.
Tutorial MMF <A tutorial that was designed in MMF & uses .CCA (Cant be opened in TGF)
Tutorial TGF <A tutorial that was designed in TGF & uses .GAM (Can be opened in MMF)
(Kirby Smith & me were talking about this idea in AIM. )
Some of these may be dropped though, but its still a real nice way to make sure that if a newbie puts a lowsy discription, this drop down menu will let you know what you need to know about the game. In other words, if you want it or not, because I know that it ticks me when I download a game that looks good, but ends up being nothing more then a demo that 80% chances are, will never be released.
Who all agree? Useful no? Do the screenshot thing first though, that would be alot better.
Here's a better one. Let's add a little filter just like you get in fish ponds or the inside of your computer case (if you buy a nice one with a dust filter), that stops any of the crap that tries to get through it. The end result will leave you with about 100 items, so you need not worry about further categorisation - plus the bandwidth and disk usage will decrease dramatically. It's a win-win situation. Now I'm going to get a whip; I'm going to ENSURE that Club gets this one in. The feature, I mean. Yeah, that's it.
I wouldnt use a wip, never treat it with abuse, treat it with beer. Now I have never gotten drunk in my entire life yet, not even the little bit my perents let me try on New Years, but I assure from shows like Family Guy or Futurama, its gotta be something that once 21 strikes by, will be #1 on my list. But not a day till then! Anyway, I dont have a clue what u ment about the filter, isnt it enough of a filter to have admins (who see if it has a discription more then 3 words & accept it) checking it? I think cat. the downloads isnt really a way to keep spam from getting through, its a way to help people at DC know what they are getting.
Another nice addition that might help out the ammonts of spam accounts would be to have it so that if you do not submit something that gets more then 5 thumbs UP or atleast a 3.0 rating within the first month you join DC, your name gets taken off of DC, also, if you havent signed onto your account for over 1 year without notice to an admin, your name will be removed unless you have a game like ED or EG that need your account to keep it up.
(Yet another idea that is 82.5% Kirby Smiths. )
Look at it this way Kirb, I'm getting your idea's out because you donno when to ask em. Good thing they arent copywritten, I wouldnt want to be suied for trying to make the world *cough* war zone *cough* *cough* DC!, a better place for klikers to be.
I'm not asking the admins to add a specific option to list whether or not Directsound is required. It'd just be nice if the game developers informed if Directsound was required.
My computer is pretty outdated, but most games play fine, but the few that use Directsound hangs. I'm not alone, a friend of mine has a similar problem, though his comp is even more outdated
Well, I'm gonna upgrade soon anyway
Brandon: Considering non-members can't download games (without copypasting the listed url, which all people I've talked with were clueless about), that would mean downloads would be limited to developers.
