that's just because it defaults to character encoding of utf-8 because you didn't specify how the file is encoded, try validating it with windows-1252
seems you forgot the ; after the copyright symbol code
I actually did visit it, everbody should make their sites valid html though. That is a pretty nice site

Damn that ; after the copyright on all the pages... I swear to DC that the HTML book I got the code for it showed no ; ...
Oh well..they are all fixed now... But how do I tell how it is encoded?

your biggest problem is that you are supposed to specify an alt attribute in images, and that there is no longer a background attribute.
put this: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
in between you <head> and </head> tag
