I mean I loved the book and English TV series of "Hitchhikers Guide To The galaxy" but from the teaser trailer and photos the film looks awful. The trailer has been made highly dramatic and that doesn't give it a right feel. And from this photo:
1. Zaphod has three arms and two heads... and what does the person have???
2. Trillian looks too serious, like a hero. Doesn't feel right.
3. Marvin The robot looks a good robot but it is not right for the part, because not only doesn't look depressing, but it looks too high tech and Marvin wasn't the best of robots was he not?
4. Ford Prefect has black skin in this version? I'm not a racist person but I don’t think Ford Prefect should have black skin, because it doesn't seem right for the part, but I do not have problems against black people though.
I'd have to agree with Zaphod not looking right(as far as extra body parts). Hopefully, that's not an in-film photo and in the movie they have an extra computer generated head and arm. He does look like a good full-of-himself person though. Marvin's head does looks too big. Not very depressing...
Plus, it's being made by Disney and directed by Hammer and Tongs, a duo that only previously did music videos. I'm not making any judgements on Mos Def as Ford until I see him acting. It sucks that they took away the Brittish setting, though.

I always thought ben elton could do a good zaphod. Ben elton could do a good ford too. I think Ford can be black, but only if played like the marquis de carabas from neverwhere.
His head has to be big for all his cpu power, and his eyes are downward triangles, sad shapes. Also much of his personality will have to come from movements and speech. I was suprised too when I saw that Ford was black. And i'm telling you, thats an on set photo, post isn't done yet.

Actually, now I come to think of it I find Dirk Gently funnier as well, but that's largely because I've heard and read HHGTTG so often that I can always tell exactly what's coming.
I have no issue with Ford Prefect being dark-skinned (as it doesn't actually say otherwise in the book, unless I'm mistaken) but more to to with the fact that he's a rapper. But then, Will Smith is a surprisingly legitimate actor, so let's not make judgements yet.
Ford prefect is supposed to have ginger hair. So that pretty much rules out being black. But I don't think he was ginger in the (IMO brilliant) television series.
I thought hitchhiker's was funnier, but dirk gently was more complex and engaging.
Ive been looking forward to a big screen version of this for almost 20 years...
I actually made an animated film 'trailer' for a movie version several years ago which Douglas Adams himself saw and liked!
I am not too happy regarding the 'Black Prefect' bit either, but Adams himself wrote the screenplay, and has stated that 'each incarnation of HHG2G, from radio to TV to movie, is MEANT to be different', so it was his call...I will give it a chance.
HOWEVER... I have read that Zaphods 'second head' (done so wonderfully cheesy in the TV version "Whats goin' on?" "Go back to sleep!") will be a TINY head that 'hides' under his BEARD...and it will be removed to be held for ransom during the second half of the film...THIS I DONT LIKE!...
"...Will Smith is a surprisingly legitimate actor..."
Wrong.
Wrong.
Wrong.
Wrong.
Wrong.
Wrong.
Wrong.
Sorry, but that is... so wrong. That guy smokes the bone in every single thing he's ever done. Whichever rich uncle of his is responsible for guiding his career to the top of the entertainment world should be butchered and thrown into hell.
I've met him on two occasions, once on Lanai, where he goes for vacation, and at the premier of Hitched, in Honolulu. He is a pretty cool guy so I am biased towards him.
