I'm on the hunt for some good films to watch... I'm wondering if anyone's seem these and know if they're worth getting on DVD or something:
Pi looks weird but somewhat interesting (and has a high rating on IMDB)
American History X looks pretty damn good just looking at the trailer and synopsis
Cidade de Deus is meant to be amazing, but I've never gotten around to watching it
American Beauty - is it worth it just to see Mena Suvari's tits, or is it actually decent?
If there are any others worth watching please tell me! I need something to watch :@

"Say you're hanging from a huge cliff at the top of mt. everest and a guy comes along and says he'll save you, and proceeds to throw religious pamphlets at you while simultaniously giving a sermon." - Dustin G
Pi: Very arthouse film student stuff. Worth watching, but not worth paying for.
AHX: Real good.
CdD: Never heard of it.
AB: Also real good. I'm a bit bitter about being forced to watch it in school, but I'm sure I'd have liked it even more if I hadn't.
Some films to see:
Adaptation: Anything written by Charlie Kaufman, actually.
Dark City: Very awesome movie.
Cube & Hypercube: Both good, although Hypercube betrays the original a little.
Anything by Hayao Miyazaki. Also Grave of the Fireflies, it's still Ghibli even though he didn't direct it.
Cheers, Radix. I've seen the cube, which is great, but I've never seen the sequel - I'll see if I can get some of those

Fistful of Dollars, A few dollars more, The good the bad and the ugly, once upon a time in the west (Leone's spaghetti westerns, with great scores by Ennio Morricone)
Dark City (agree with Radix on that one)
A clockwork orange (brilliant!)
- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -

American Beauty is an excellent film, as is American History X. Try also Fargo, which is severely underated (but I love it), GoodFellas, The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs. I got all those 5 on DVD recently; they're well worth it.
Pi: This is great! The music even better! You should watch 'Reqium for a Dream'
American History X: Great film again! Norton is great, and convincing, its scary..
Cidade de Deus: Good one. I never knew Rio was so fucked up.
American Beauty: Another good one Kevin Spacey's brilliant!
some good ones are: Forrest Gump, Legends of the Fall, Dances with Wolves, Reqium for a Dream, Pulp Fiction, Das Experiment, Scarface, Akira, Battle Royale, Leaving Las Vegas, etc etc etc etc etc....

american history x - fantastic. you must watch it.
cidade de deus - never heard that either - if its french its probably shite though (theres like 2 good french films ever)
american beauty - very overrated (i didnt like it at all). and mena suvaris really flat chested so you'll be dissappointed in that respect aswell.
i think i've got weird taste in films though - i dont like hardly any of the ones other people suggested (most of them would be on my most hated list). fargo was on tv again the other day and is still crap. the accents alone do my head in after five minutes. battle royale is good, and legends of the fall ok i guess, but the rest suck. i'm one of those people who mostly only likes a film if i like the star though (i recommend anything with jessica alba / biel).
one film i saw quite recently and thought was cool, and that not many people know, was perdita durango. everyone else hated it though.
office space is really funny too, as long as youve actually had a job.
wild things i liked first time round cos it wasnt actually predictable (and still like now for obvious reasons )
dont know about new films - i havent been to the cinema since along came polly.
oh yeah - the land before time is great too (i love those little cartoon dinosaurs).
generally speaking, any old "classics" are shite too. except i liked breakfast at tiffanys and a few hitchcocks.

Yeah old movies suck... Oh wait, you're just a moron.
Thanks people, they're some nice suggestions. I've just ordered AHX from eBay, and I'll probably look for the others too.
Cidade de Deus sounds French but it's actually Portugese (I think?). It's about 2 brothers - one grows up to be a photographer and the other a drug dealer. According to IMDB anyway: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0317248
