That's right. I have an idea which actually has a good chance of working!!! When someone looks at thier own post in the "code it" section, there needs to be a tickable box that says, "problem solved". Then the "solved/unsolved" status, is shown to all, so that those who want to help can look at unsolved posts, and those who see a problem they have also, can look at the solved posts.
So, what do you guys think? Could this really be done?

Not all the code-it posts are a specefic question, so your idea wouldn't work for all of them. Still, I suppose it's better than some of your previous ideas. Maybe something for DC3.

I have a better idea: when posting a new message some buttons must be on top of the page which insert links, bold/italic/underlined text and all other special stuff (like > for example). Look at Natomic's forum if you want an idea of what I'm talking about.

You could add an option when posting in the Code-It section if you want the solved/unsolved box. Maybe also the solved/unsolved could be added to the post title for even easier access.

This idea should also be used in the solitare club. I really want to get involved in a team or something, but I don't know who still wants help.

Now see, that might actually be a convient idea, because often times I will run accross times where I go into a post expecting to help someone, & find someones already helped, or times where I need help & I keep running into posts of people who ask for help & didnt get it yet.

Okay, I'm going to turn this non-zany idea into a zany one. What if people get a DC point everytime they are credited for the solving of a problem?
Or should we stick with the non-zany version?

I'd stick to the non-zany one. One problem that can arise is that a person posts that the problem is solved when a much better solution exists.

If the problem is solved then they don't need a better solution. It also seems that this is more for the average helper. You can take it upon yourself though rapidflash and make sure everyone has the best solution so you can sleep at night .

hmmm... i think the creator of the post should lit the "SOLVED" sign himself, because sometimes you just don't really get the real solution... as if someone just answeres:"i don't know"(someone really stupid)
as 1 point for solving a problem would just start a wave of spammage here. you can't prevent it.

Yeah, that was the idea. And anyone who doesn't post solved on a solved problems will be harrassed until that person does.

Maybe if you had it so the person who posted it can decide who best answers the question and select them to get the 1 dc point.
"Actually sir, we found a tiny unicorn in your exhaust. It was jumping around poking holes in your gas tank." "Oh thank you I did not know that. A tiny unicorn? Wow."
