Australia sucks. We don't have the new series of Dr Who yet. All you brits who watched it last night, tell me how damn cool it certainly was!
(btw I am a biiiig whovian)
(btw2 have a happy feast of the zombie Jesus)
Stargate Atlantis starts tonight. And the old ones are still going, aren't they? I mean, the ABC hasn't actually bought the rights for the new Who series yet, but they'd pretty much have to after they've finished this run (although they're still on the 4th doctor... so that might take a while).
Stargate owns your entire family. Sliders was great until most of the characters left.

Sliders was good until the fat professor bloke got killed. I was going to tape Doctor Who but the VCR wasn't working so poo. Maybe they'll repeat it; maybe I'll download it (www.the-realworld.de Damien). Billie Piper is fit.
Apart from when Rose's boyfriend goes "P-P-PIZZA!", and the bit where she goes "But really Doctor, who are you?" (sounded so false) I thought it was great.
Edit: And I've never been a Dr Who fan... I'll probably start watching it regularly now

Didn't see it, but I saw the adverts, and I must admit.
It looked rubbish.
The cast just doesn't seem very good. Particularly Billie. In every photo I've seen she has the *exact* same facial expression. Teeth clenched, mouth open, brows furrowed in a frown, head angled downwards, eyes looking up.
And the storylines seem a bit... bad. Living plastic? Right.
That said, all this is kinda what makes Dr Who what it is. So maybe I just don't like Dr Who, period, lol!
Anyways, I'll watch it next time so I can have a more informed opinion. When's it on?
I hope it explains the Autons properly. The nestene consciousnesness charges the atoms or something, not really making them 'come alive'. I fecking love Doctor Who, and anyone who doesn't isn't a moron or hasn't seen enough of it. I'm also a bigot.
@Radix:
Stargate was cool... Until they came up with Atlantis. I used to watch every single episode of SG1, but Atlantis is just your ordinary, American bullshit series. Its characters are nothing special or incredibly stupid, the stories are boring, all those nice references to human history did not make it to the new, weird galaxy and the whole thing is just lightyears away from being creative or inspiring. I loved Stargate and if I didn't find somebody to record it for me, I seriously considered staying at home for it... But Atlantis made me not watch it at all, even if I'm at home, within three episodes.
Jannis:
Yeah, I was concerned about that, especially not being able to use human mythology and the way the Wraith guys are pretty generic baddies (people eaters from space!), but it's only been the first two episodes yet. I'll watch it anyway, even if it's not nearly as good as SG1 it's still stargate and it's still sci fi.
Dines: all the fun of Dr. Who is in how cheesy it is. All the serials have always used monsters from other series, and if you stopped using original Who monsters (or worse, update them like turning Daleks into Terminators) you'd alienate the entire fan base.
Daleks are in the new series and they have jets now. all the vintage Who watchers used to rattle on about how scary the Daleks were, but i just thought they were a bit pathetic. but when i saw the trailer with them in and the line "you are an ememy of the Daleks..." with a Dalek chained up in some room... i got a little scared.
Daleks could hover in the series. You see them climb some stairs in one episode.
I've heard rumours that there's going to be a very awesome kind of dalek that were featured in the comics. I don't want to spoil anything, but they're neat.
Daleks are part biological, by the way. Originally they were all mutants but later on they started cutting off human heads and building dalek armour around them.
